Overpopulation is taking place in many parts of the world, mostly in developing countries. Early this morning, I thought about this overpopulation in our country, and this came to mind: the cause of inflation, which is that people have more than resources available, like food, money, unemployment, and other pivotal things that would grow our country to a better place. The number of people is much higher than the available resources. This is the reason the low quality and quantity of production in our country demanded by the population decreases.
As the population grows, so it will affect the economic demand and lead to increased inflation. Take, for instance, as a corps member serving in Kaduna camp, we have male and female hostels that do not have their borehole water from their ground; instead, they will order water supply from somewhere to bring in their tank and fill in our tank so we can use at our convenience. We are many in this camp, with three GP tanks for a female hostel, which doesn't take us for a day; those water suppliers would have to come 4 times a day. And if you calculate their transportation, fuel, and water, you will know it is very high, to the point our State coordinator would have to come during our morning meditation to advise on how we are using water, especially in the female hostel. This means the usage of water has affected the economic demand of those sponsoring. They don't need to relent in effort but provide the necessary needs like water for us to bathe and wash our whites every day.
However, just like our State coordinator of NYSC Kaduna, summoned us to address us on the management of water, so is the same way the government should organize a program for spouses or couples and address or teach them about the birth rate from here the couples would decide on the moderate number of children they should have, this will be better than the government regulating or implementing the number of children for married couples. And letting them understand the present economic situation for a proportional good and services.
Nevertheless, the key effect of overpopulation in urban areas is house crises; an increase in house rent would be high, and it would make life uncomfortable for those who don't have the money to afford it.
The world is filled with people and unborn people, and all the people use resources every day, like water, food, transportation, housing, and many more, but the population has taken up the economic demand, and goods and services are no longer available at the price level.
And couples, please let's reduce the birth rate in our nation; two, three, and four children are enough for easier responsibility and availability of goods and services. Already population in our nation has affected the economic demand which is a result of inflation
In all, governments and policymakers should ensure that married couples are educated about the birth rate or they incentivize each family.
