My 3speaking Today
Hey, what's up, players! First of all, let me wish you all a happy Sunday and an even better start to the week. Welcome back to my 3speak channel and this retrogaming post. Well, I’m writing this today after getting a well-deserved 8 hours of sleep following an exhausting work and academic week : / but at least I’m in the last days of my University academic semester, and well, once it’s over, I hope to be able to rest a little more, haha. Wario, Wario —I really love this character from the Mario universe. It’s worth noting that he’s very well represented in this Warioland II for the GBC, as you can see from the 'giant sprites' for the GBC, which make it a graphically outstanding video game on this legendary handheld console.
As for this second gameplay session, we were completing what the game calls 'Stories,' where the game is divided into chapters and stories; thus, we completed Story 2, titled “Turn Down the Giant Faucet.” This story or mission simply involved going to turn off a giant faucet that members of the Black Sugar Gang had opened inside Wario’s Castle with the aim of flooding it, which is why moving freely inside the castle became difficult, as you can see in the gameplay, where we were often swept away by the current of the overflowing water, causing us to turn back and slow down along the way—despite how good a swimmer our beloved Wario is.
Even though Wario is noticeably much stronger physically than Mario, we can see some clear disadvantages he has compared to our red plumber. Because of his greater weight, for example, Wario is a much clumsier swimmer than Mario—something I find pretty funny since you can really feel that difference in strength and weight at every moment of gameplay, especially if you’re used to playing as the equally beloved Mario, and I won’t even mention if you’re used to playing as Yoshi or the speedy Luigi… :D. I also really loved how, in one part of the castle, when I had to face a member of the Black Sugar Gang with a flamethrower and he managed to set me on fire, Wario was engulfed in flames, and when he fell into the water, they went out immediately—WOW! I thought this was fantastic, especially in such a retro game :O. Well, without further ado, I’ll sign off here, hoping you’ll visit me in my next post and gameplay, players. Cheers, and thanks for reading as always.
