Me siento muy contento de estar una vez más entre ustedes, después de un buen tiempo de haber estado batallando por subir mi participación para esta semana 256.

Mañana de Carnaval es un bossa nova cuyo nombre original fue Orfeo negro con el cual nombraron también una película y cuyo autor fue Luis Bonfa. Al pasar el tiempo y luego de haberse versionado por muchos artistas es más conocida como "Mañana de Carnaval"

Cuando comencé a tocar jazz y bossa nova en la ciudad de Caracas, participé en varios grupos en formato de trío y cuarteto. Nuestro gran aliado era el famoso "Real Book"", un libro que contiene alrededor de 650 temas, conocidos como standars de jazz. Allí encontramos música de los años 40 y 50 y también temas de compositores un poco más recientes como Chic Corea, Pat Metheny, Bill Frissel entre otros.

En ese apreciado libro encontré jazz, música brasilera, temas pop y canciones universales y también conocí el tema "Orfeo negro" o "Mañana de carnaval" y era muy extraño participar en diferentes agrupaciones en donde no tocáramos esta hermosa melodía.

Cuando leí la temática de la semana recordé esta canción inmediatamente y quise compartirlo con ustedes en mi ejecución con la flauta.

I am very happy to be among you once again, after a long time of struggling to upload my participation for this week 256.

Mañana de Carnaval is a bossa nova whose original name was Orfeo negro with which they also named a movie and whose author was Luis Bonfa. As time went by and after having been covered by many artists it is better known as “Mañana de Carnaval” (Carnival Morning).

When I started playing jazz and bossa nova in the city of Caracas, I participated in several groups in trio and quartet format. Our great ally was the famous “Real Book”, a book that contains about 650 songs, known as jazz standars. There we found music from the 40's and 50's and also songs by more recent composers such as Chic Corea, Pat Metheny, Bill Frissel and others.

In that book I found jazz, Brazilian music, pop songs and universal songs and I also knew the theme “Orfeo negro” or “Mañana de carnaval” and it was very strange to participate in different groups where we did not play this beautiful melody.

When I read the theme of the week I remembered this song immediately and I wanted to share it with you in my performance with the flute.
