When we do not know our purpose, we wander around ineffectively even though we expend a lot of effort. We move our feet on the treadmill of life, but we fail to cove the miles of terrain that are required to move toward our goal. The failure to ascertain our lives. It is when we fail to consult and develop a spiritual base for our lives. It is when we consult God that He directs us into His divine purpose and we together, establish a plan that is much like a per-building consultation among the architect, the contractors, and the owners.
Many people depend on God to do everything. While that sound good, it really doesn’t make sense. There are something that human have contributed to, since the beginning of creation. They named the animals, built the ark, and built God’s own house, the temple in Jerusalem. It is imperative that we, through collaboration, develop a feel for the plan. God in His grace allows us to contribute to the plan as long as it doesn’t alter the purpose. It saves countless misunderstandings and wasted effort when communication exists between you and Divine Architect.
Most of us never consult anyone; we just wake up in the morning and start hammering. The tragedy is that much of what we have then built has to be scrapped and redone. We marry people without looking at the plan. We make career choice without looking at the plan. These choice are often based on the finances, convenience, or some other peripheral issue. But the choices should rest solely on the purpose of God. Does this move take me closer or further from my life’s goal and purpose? That is the question. If the answer is no, then why are you wasting days moving toward it?
