Expectation is an architect with no volume in a place inside our minds, influencing what we are looking forward to happen. It starts with what's little, maybe a dream, a desire, or a basic "what if". It gradually creates roots, making visions of success, joy, and admiration. We consider how things suppose happen, how people suppose treat us, and how life should give us our achievements.
But expectation is more like a double edged sword that feels like magic when you first use, but hurts far more than you can imagine when it breaks. Still, we can't help but anticipate. It's human nature to wait, hope, and have faith in the future.
Even when disappointment strikes, we return to that place of desire. Without anticipation, we may quit trying completely. And sometimes, reality surprises us in ways that our imagination could never have predicted.
