Superman: The Man of Steel Vol. 1-6 by John Byrne. I think everyone likes superheroes, and when it comes to Superman, even more so. I think most people know Superman's story, and I'm sure that as children, they wanted to have his powers. In my case, I never dressed up as this friend; however, when I was a child, we had a piece of red fabric at home, and I simply took a sheet, drew the Superman symbol on it, stuck it on the fabric, tied it around my neck, and tried to fly from my bed, ha ha ha ha; children's things and the innocence they represent. Well, today I am pleased to offer my personal opinion on a comic book series about the Man of Steel created by John Byrne.

This writer is considered one of the greats in the world of comics and is not only responsible for drawing them, but also does everything else, including writing the script and drawing, and on several occasions has been responsible for the inking. John's narrative is spectacular, providing extreme fluidity within his works, allowing us as readers to enjoy the entire plot without any confusion. He has several works to his credit, but the one we are going to enjoy is Superman: The Man of Steel, volumes 1 to 6 from 1986. This has been a real treat for me, because I had the opportunity to receive a file containing the entire mini-series from a friend. To do this, I had to download a .cbr file reader called Comic Screen from the Play Store, which allowed me to enjoy all the volumes of this wonderful comic. I really had a blast, because it had been too long since I had read this type of work.

We all know Superman's origins, from his departure from Krypton to his arrival on Earth and his subsequent discovery of his great powers. Now, the author in question has given a twist to what we are used to seeing, with his characters providing us with several surprises. John has even included other names to make the plots even more enjoyable. Here, Superman is not portrayed as a god, but rather as something more akin to a human being who may have limitations. This reminds me of the recent movie about this superhero, where we see him with a much more intense humanity. On this occasion, we see a Superman who has, so to speak, a uniform for doing his job, while Clark is the real person without any masks. The author makes us think that there are two different people.

Now, we know that Superman comes from Krypton, and this planet has always been presented to us as a world full of advanced technology. But in this case, we are shown a place without emotions and totally detached from reality, which makes us think that this could be the reason why we see Superman as mostly terrestrial, since he has lived his entire life on our planet. But if you're wondering about the other characters, logically we have Clark's parents, who instill in him the deepest values of humility, honesty, loyalty, and love; his mother is the one who makes his suit. We see Lois Lane, who is always in search of the truth, and the author presents us with a professional struggle with Clark within the newspaper.

We cannot overlook the supervillain Lex Luthor, who in this 1986 version is no longer a mad scientist but is presented as a powerful, corrupt millionaire who uses his resources to try to take over the world. A modern addition is Cat Grant, who arrives at the Daily Planet to add more dynamism to the plot. She is interested in Clark, while Lois continues her search for Superman. Another interesting character is Dr. Hamilton, a scientist allied with Superman who helps him in times of need. I find this very important because the author does not present Superman as only weak to kryptonite, but rather more vulnerable, which makes the story more appealing.

What I love about this comic series is that it is visually striking. The graphics are incredible, the dialogues are very dynamic with little room for silence; if this happens, just by looking at the images we know what is going on; simply put, from my point of view, I am watching a movie because of the quality they offer us on each page. And as I said before, the author has made a significant transformation in terms of Superman's powers, which makes us reflect on the power that people can have. Here, Superman prefers to be a person full of humanity rather than just a god.

If you're a fan of comics, you're going to love this series, and more than just reading it like a book; we're going to enjoy every page. It's true; it's a digital version, but it will feel as real as if we were turning each page with our fingers. Each page is full of action, love, peace, and conflicts that seem difficult to resolve, but we all know that the good guys don't always win, and when they do, you can see the great effort it took to achieve victory. Para mí esto ha sido demasiado grato; porque he tenido la oportunidad de recibir de parte de un amigo, un archivo que contiene toda esta mini serie. Todos conocemos los inicios de Superman desde su salida de Krypton, hasta llegar a la tierra y su consecuente conocimiento de poseer grandes poderes. Ahora; el autor en cuestión le ha dado ciertos giros a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver, donde sus personajes nos darán varias sorpresas; incluso, John ha incluido otros nombres para que las tramas se disfruten con mayor intensidad. Aquí; Superman no se refleja como un Dios, es algo más parecido a un ser humano que puede llegar a tener límites. Esto me recuerda a la reciente película de este superhéroe; donde lo vemos con una humanidad mucho más intensa. En esta oportunidad; veremos a un Superman que tiene, si se puede decir, un uniforme para realizar un trabajo; mientras que Clark es la persona real sin ningún tipo de máscaras, el autor nos hace pensar que existen dos personas diferentes.

Ahora; sabemos que Superman viene de Krypton y siempre nos han presentado este planeta, como un mundo lleno de tecnología avanzada. Pero en este caso, nos muestran un lugar sin emociones y totalmente alejado de la realidad; lo que nos hace pensar que esa pudiera ser la razón por la que vemos a un Superman mayormente terrestre, no por nada toda su vida ha vivido en nuestro planeta. Pero si se preguntan por lo demás personajes; lógicamente tenemos a lo padres de Clark, quienes le inculcan los más profundos valores de humildad, honestidad, lealtad y amor; su madre es quien le confecciona el traje. Vemos a Lois Lane quien está siempre en busca de la verdad y el autor nos presenta una lucha profesional con Clark dentro del Diario.

No podemos dejar de lado al super villano Lex Luthor quien en esta versión de 1986, deja de ser un científico loco y se presenta como un ser poderoso, millonario y corrupto, que usa sus recursos para tratar de apoderarse del mundo. Una incorporación moderna es la de Cat Grant; quien llega al Diario el Planeta para dar más dinamismo a la trama, ella se interesa por Clark, mientras Lois continúa en la búsqueda de Superman. Otro personaje interesante es el Dr. Hamilton; un científico aliado de Superman que lo ayuda en situaciones de apremio. Noto esto muy importante; porque el autor no presenta a Superman solo con debilidad a la kryptonita, sino que aquí es más vulnerable y eso hace que la historia sea más atrayente.

Lo que me encanta de esta serie cómic, es que visualmente es muy llamativa. Los gráficos son increíbles, los diálogos muy dinámicos habiendo poco espacio para el silencio; si esto ocurre, con solo ver las imágenes sabemos lo que está pasando; sencillamente, desde mi punto de vista estoy viendo una película por la calidad que nos ofrecen en cada página. Y como dije antes; el autor ha hecho una transformación importante en lo que a los poderes de Superman se refiere; lo que nos hace reflexionar sobre el poder que pueden tener las personas; aquí, Superman prefiere ser una persona llena de humanidad a ser solo un Dios.

Si eres fan de los cómics, esta serie te va a encantar y más que leerla como un libro; vamos a disfrutar cada página. Es cierto; es una versión digital, pero la sentiremos tan real como si estuviéramos pasando cada página con nuestros dedos. Cada página está llena de acción, de amor, de paz, de conflictos que parecen difíciles de resolver; pero todos sabemos que no siempre los buenos ganan y cuando lo hacen, se nota el gran esfuerzo por obtener la victoria. Superman siempre ha sido mi héroe favorito y me he deleitado con cada película que nos cuenta su historia. Ha sido un verdadero honor ofrecer mi reseña, saludos y nos vemos pronto.
