Exasperated and parched, I had to take a break and grab something to drink. A cold bottle of water would have been fine, but this particular drink I had never seen seemed very interesting. How I felt afterwards, I couldn't tell if it really was the drink or the words on it.
It was a Saturday workout session with everyone else at work. Not my thing at all, but against my reserved personality, I chose to show up anyway. The worst that could happen was not being able to dance in sync. Anyway, that's where I first learned about this interesting drink.
Pocari Sweat. I think that's a strange name for a drink. At first, I really couldn't tell if it was a drink or just another brand of water. It looked just water but it had "drink" written on it. What kind, though, soda? Anyway, I was too thirsty and couldn't care less. But my eyes caught something else...
Written on the side of the can was a description of what the drink really was. I had been curious, so I took a moment to read.
"You don't say." I thought to myself. And before anyone could say Olujay, I had already drained the content of this so-called ion drink.
There's usually a refreshing feeling I get when I drink cold soda, followed by some belching. Then I'd cool off in a couple of minutes or so. That wasn't the case this time. No belching, as there was no gas, and in under one minute, I had stopped panting and was breathing normally. It was almost like I had imagined my exasperation earlier.
Mind games - that's what I thought was happening. I then wondered if I really would have felt the same way if I hadn't read "about" this Pocari Sweat.
The taste, yes. It was... different. Not like soda, definitely not water. Not very sweet, yet not bland at all. It was pretty much just there and generally tasted nice. I'd say it's the perfect drink to quickly feel rejuvenated without feeling bloated like soda does sometimes.
Now I had never seen this drink before and don't know if I'll ever find it again -- or easily, at least. They happened to have a partnership with the fitness program that day. Do you know it, though? Perhaps you can tell what you feel about it.
