Hi, fashion lovers. I hope your day went well. I'm thrilled to share another amazing project I worked on in the #needleworkmonday community.
A church member reached out to me and asked if I could make a simple top a burial she's attending. I gathered the material and get to work.
MATERIAL USED;
* Ankara fabric
* Black lining
* Black thread
* Bra cup
* Pattern paper
* Black zip
* Warden
HOW I MADE THIS SIMPLE STYLISH ANKARA TOP
* First, I'm using a pattern paper to dart what I want, so I can avoid a mistakes. I took her measurements and transferred them to the paper, then cut it out.
* After laying the pattern paper on the fabric, I added a half-inch seam allowance at the hem and 1 inch at the side, marked and cut it out. I repeated the same process for the yoke piece.
* I placed the fabric on the warden and cut it out. Then, I moved over to the sewing machine to sew it together. After sewing around the pieces, I joined the center and side fronts together and notched the under bust area. And this is the outcome, it turned out beautifully, even without the bra cups.
* I positioned the bra cup on the bust side to fit in place before sewing it around by hand using a need and thread. Here's what it looks like. Next, I attached the yoke to the bustier, making sure to mark the placement first. I repeated the same steps for the back bodice.
* I took the front bodice lining and attach it to the front, carefully sewing it to create a smooth sweetheart neckline. I notched the curves before sewing the down part and here's the results. my client requested a more modest fit, so I adjusted the neckline, raising it by about 6 inches to meet her needs.
* After turning the back bodice with lining, I checked to ensure it was even before joining the back and front bodice together to shape. I had taken her body measurements and marked them out, which helped guide me as I stitched it on the machine.
* my client requested simple shirt sleeves. I took her long sleeve length measurement, which was 9 inches and added 1 inch for seam allowance. For the sleeve cap, I measured her round sleeves which was 14 inches and calculated the width: 14 divide by 2 is 7, plus 1 inch for seam allowance. I cut out the sleeve pieces with lining and stitched them together before attaching them to the blouse.
AND GUYS HERE'S THE FINAL RESULTS:
The outfit looks simple yet beautiful and the Ankara print adds such a bold touch to the blouse, I just love it. You can pair the blouse with a skirt, suit, or palazzo trousers or even baggy jeans and it would match perfectly. My client chose to style hers with jeans trousers and it looks great.
