#hiveGarden, this Sunday, I was fortunate enough to attend a plant exhibition at the Parque La Estación exhibition hall in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The stand that caught my eye was the one displaying and selling bulbs of lilies, daylilies, daffodils, and other flowers whose roots are bulbs. I was intrigued by the idea because they were selling sealed packages of bulbs, or bulbs for planting directly. It was a wonderful experience, and I want to share it with you. Without further ado, I'm sharing the photos and content.

El puesto que me llamó la atención fue el que exhibía y vendía bulbos de lirios, azucenas, narcisos y otras flores cuyas raíces son bulbos. Me intrigó la idea porque vendían paquetes sellados de bulbos o bulbos para plantar directamente. Fue una experiencia maravillosa y quiero compartirla con ustedes. Sin más preámbulos, les comparto las fotos y el contenido.
Amaryllis Belladonna
These bulbs (pictured above), as indicated on the envelopes, are a type of flower that closely resembles bells.
These are called Amaryllis belladonna, and they are abundant during the winter. That is, if the bulbs are planted at this time in the fall, we could expect to have a flowering plant within five months. These bulbs have long stems, and their flowers emerge after the leaves. This plant is also commonly called a lily.

Se llaman Amaryllis belladonna y abundan durante el invierno. Es decir, si se plantan en esta época del otoño, podríamos esperar tener una planta con flores en cinco meses. Estos bulbos tienen tallos largos y sus flores emergen después de las hojas. Esta planta también se conoce comúnmente como lirio.
Narcissus/Daffodils
Daffodils are beautiful flowers, and equally dangerous. They are a type of bulb. They bloom in spring. Incidentally, the daffodil produces alkaloids and also has medicinal properties. It can be poisonous. It has a very pleasant fragrance.

Junquil/White Narcissus
These flowers are called jonquils, but they're also a type of daffodil, according to the nursery where they grow them. If planted in the fall, their blossoms will open in the winter. This means we're in the prime of the season for planting bulbs. To ensure their development, it's recommended to add sand for good drainage.

Esto significa que estamos en plena temporada para plantar bulbos. Para asegurar su desarrollo, se recomienda añadir arena para un buen drenaje.
Dahlias
Dahlias generally bloom from fall to spring, meaning they are in bloom for half the year. These plants last exactly six months, and each flower can last up to a month. These flowers fill me with fond memories. When I was in school, and I didn't like the class or was bored, I would begin drawing petal after petal until I formed a beautiful, large dahlia. It took up the entire page of my notebook.

Lilies or Daylilies
I've always called these flowers lilies. They're the same species as lilies, but these are larger. They bloom during the spring, and in winter they lose their bloom, and their flowers, despite being perennial, could bloom all year round. I particularly love lilies, and in Buenos Aires, I was able to see the most beautiful lily flowers I've ever seen. They come in various colors, and each one is prettier than the next. My favorites are the pink and yellow ones.

Florecen en primavera y en invierno pierden su floración, y sus flores, a pesar de ser perennes, pueden florecer todo el año. Me encantan los lirios, y en Buenos Aires pude ver las flores de lirio más hermosas que jamás haya visto. Vienen en varios colores, y cada uno es más bonito que el anterior. Mis favoritos son los rosados y los amarillos.
White lily
The white lily is also called the Easter lily. In my country, Venezuela, it's used for special events like weddings, baptisms, communions, etc. It's one of the lilies that blooms naturally in late summer. It can remain alive even in direct sunlight.
![spanish]El lirio blanco también se llama lirio de Pascua. En mi país, Venezuela, se usa para eventos especiales como bodas, bautizos, comuniones, etc. Es uno de los lirios que florece naturalmente a finales del verano. Puede permanecer vivo incluso bajo la luz solar directa.
Freesia
Freesia is a small flower, with a wide variety of colors. It is a plant that remains dormant during the summer.
They are tiny flowers, but very showy and brightly colored. They bloom more often in spring. In winter, they are only buried and do not grow further.

Sus flores son diminutas, pero muy vistosas y de colores brillantes. Florecen con más frecuencia en primavera. En invierno, solo se entierran y no crecen más.
Glorious Lily

Of these flowers, the only thing I was told at the stand was that they're also a type of lily and are also called Gloriosa. They're native to Africa. Here in Argentina, all types of lilies can thrive. In fact, almost all of them are long-lived. Their lifespan is up to six months.

flores, lo único que me dijeron en el puesto fue que también son un tipo de lirio y se llaman Gloriosas. Son originarias de África. Aquí en Argentina, todos los tipos de lirios prosperan. De hecho, casi todos son longevos. Su vida útil es de hasta seis meses.
Gladioli
Finally, I introduce you to Gladioli, or Gladiolas. That's what I call their flowers. I've always liked these flowers; in fact, we call my sister Gladiola because she's named Gladys. I think they have very vivid, varied colors. They should be planted in a sunny climate. They take about four months to bloom.
