I made this short post to introduce my validator node on the SPS network.
As many users on HIVE and the Splinterlands ecosystem know, the validator software for the SPS sidechain has launched. (details can be found in this post from the @sps.dao).
https://peakd.com/spsdao/@sps.dao/sps-validators-launch.
In order to contribute in some way to the network. I am running my own node with the HIVE account @thirtyseven.

About the node

Previously (a few days ago), I was running the setup locally on a mini PC with Debian as OS, which worked well (Still have a fully functional node in that PC right now) but had some limitations.
Long history short, did not work as I wanted, then I tried something else... Switched to a VPS (Virtual Private Server). Since then put the mini PC aside for other stuff that probably make more sense for it, probably local experiments, or even run a local node without public APIs.
Back to the hosted node, the server is located in Europe, while node operative part will be managed by me from South America. This Operator/Server geographic distribution should be good in terms of decentralize the network having presence across the globe 🌎.
What about about the server specs?
  • Ubuntu OS
  • 2vCPU
  • 120 NVMe SSD Storage
  • 4GB RAM
My plan is start low requirements, then monitor and upgrade as necessary. If future upgrades become necessary, will be addressed when the time comes (sooner than later).
For now, node is running as a "full node" that does support HTTPS APIs.
To verify the current status of the node go to https://sps.37app.top/status, you should get a response like this (Hopefully).
{
    "status": "running",
    "last_block": 93760284,
    "archive_node": true,
    "block_retention": null
}

About me

  • Learn things by doing & I am day-by-day Linux user (not expert but regular user at least).
  • Work as part of the Splinterlands Support Team since 2021. Own some assets and play the game with some accounts in Team Possible guilds.

About my role in SL

As stated in the previous section I work as part of the Support Team, we contribute to the community on a daily basis taking care of user requests coming from different vias (Discord & Zendesk) and delivering the requests to the right department of the team to be reviewed.
My focus leans toward to the technical part of the support role, I am often working with Python scripts fetching data from the different blockchains we interact with, semi-automating processes (E.g. mass token transfers) making tedious tasks more digestable or even trying to reproduce technical issues from users on my end.

Thank you if you’re currently supporting my node or are considering supporting it.
