Crystals that heal: my aloe plantation [Eng/Esp]

Today I visited one of my little green treasures: ten aloe vera plants that a few months ago were just shy cuttings and have now burst into a grove of thick, upright leaves. I can't help but smile every time I approach this corner of my backyard because it's a piece of nature that I deeply feel is mine, not by ownership, but because of the care and patience we have shared.

The afternoon sun bathes them in a light that makes them look like living sculptures. Their green, waxy leaves rise like open arms, but to me they are much more than decoration because they are my personal pharmacy, something like my little daily miracle. They call it the miracle plant, and although the term may sound grandiose, when you start researching, you realize that the list of benefits is so long that it's almost overwhelming. It is a treasure chest of green goodness.

Today I came to see them with a specific mission because I need to check if the gel they keep inside is already at its optimal point. I want to start preparing two very specific remedies: a gel for some dermatological problems that are driving me crazy and a preparation for gastritis that appears without warning. It's not worth buying gels loaded with chemicals at the pharmacy if nature offers me such a pure and direct alternative.

I have read that the plant needs maturity, that the oldest and lowest leaves accumulate the highest concentration of active principles. For that reason, I chose one of the outer leaves, the most robust one, and with a sharp knife, I cut it from the base. The cut was clean and immediately, a few drops of a yellowish liquid, aloin, appeared through the vessels of the leaf. What interested me was what was inside, so I held the fleshy and heavy leaf and made a lengthwise cut. When I separated the two halves, that transparent, trembling, shining gel appeared before my eyes, as if the leaf were a case and inside it kept a liquid crystal, pure and fresh.

I took a small piece with my fingers and felt a mucilaginous texture that melts away. The plant is ready. It has the right consistency, the freshness I expected, and at that moment, I was overcome by a feeling of pride I hadn't anticipated. It's not just that the plant had grown; it's that I had been part of that process. I have watered them when they needed it, I have protected them from the too intense sun, I have talked to them, I suppose, and they have responded. They have given me that leaf, that crystal that will become relief and well-being.

I look at my ten plants and they no longer seem just that to me. Now they are a symbol of what patience and affection can harvest, a green and crystal treasure, fragile in appearance but full of incredible vital force, and with a powerful healing magic inside.
