             Celebrating World Diabetes Day Nov 14th

Complications of Diabetes Mellitus;

Diabetes is a leading cause of heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, and lower-limb amputations.

Here is the Good News:

Most cases of Diabetes are Type 2 which is largely preventable with lifestyle modification.

Which brings us to ---

Prevention (Primarily for Type 2 Diabetes)

Healthy diet: Increase fruits and vegetables, whole grains. Reduce sugary beverages and refined carbohydrates.
Increase physical activity: moderate exercise at least 20 minutes per day, could include brisk walking, dancing or jogging, just anything you enjoy doing.
Weight control: 5–7% weight loss significantly reduces risk.
Avoid smoking and cut down your alcohol intake.
Routine screening: Especially for high-risk individuals (age >40, obesity, hypertension, family history).

Management

If you're diagnosed, Management involves discussing with your physician and abiding with instructions, and keeping to your regular clinic visits.
Early management prevents complications.
