Since I wrote this post, I saved some photos to turn them into black and white. In the editing process I came across many difficulties, and all the while I kept thinking of a great master whose work we are fortunate enough to enjoy here every day, @jlinaresp. He truly has it mastered… for me this is arduous, believe me.
Of course, there are other excellent photographers here who are doing beautiful work in black and white. @muhammadhalim, with whom I had the honour of visiting this historic place, is one of them, and in fact thanks to him I took my favourite shot among those I share here. This small but meaningful moment I will always keep in mind. He stood near that wall, pointed to the bell tower and said to me: Look, this is a great photo.
Perhaps he already has a similar one in his archives. That day I didn’t see him take a photo there; he gave it to me. Although he could have done so, one great singularity of all this is that there will never be two identical photos of the same place taken by two different people.
So… today I will allow myself to be brief. I wanted to write poetry, but I felt as redundant as the silence of these ruined walls. Let us leave it at that… I remind myself that trying to hold water in one of my fists is always a failure, just as it is utopian to wish to see what shape the wind has, when it only reveals itself in what it touches and in what it transforms.
And before I write anything else… 😅 this is my entry in the #Monomad Challenge.
