A few days ago, I visited one of those towns that played a big part in my childhood. It's called San Antonio de los Baños, and it's about 15 km from where I live. The reason was my friend Javier, who had invited me to go to the Ariguanabo River, which is near the town, to go birdwatching, and of course, I took advantage of the opportunity to take photos of the trip and show them to you.
These snapshots 📸 are my submission for the #monomad challenge by @monochromes and @brumest.
The town is pretty quiet, well, more or less, because a year ago there were some massive protests that turned ugly; otherwise, it's a typical provincial town.
There are older areas with traces of what were once cobblestone streets.
And the river, called Ariguanabo, with about 8 km navigable, is one of my favorite places for bird watching.
The most curious thing is that the same river ends its journey in the center of the village, reaching a cave where it disappears.
Above the cave there is a large tree that we call Ceiba. No one knows for sure where the river reappears, although, according to my geographer friend, it emerges somewhere on the southern coast into the sea, but it remains a mystery.
Well, today I wanted to bring you something different. If you are in the province of Artemisa in Cuba, be sure to visit this place. You will love it.

Hola, amigos.
Hace unos días visité uno de esos poblados que mucho tuvieron que ver con mi infancia. Se llama San Antonio de los Baños, y queda a unos 15 km de donde vivo. El motivo fue mi amigo Javier, que me había invitado a ir al río Ariguanabo, que queda cerca del pueblo, para hacer un birding y, por supuesto, aproveché la ocasión para hacer fotos del recorrido y mostrárselas.
El pueblo es bastante tranquilo, bueno, más o menos, porque hace un año iniciaron unas protestas masivas que se pusieron feas; por lo demás, un típico pueblo de provincia.
Hay zonas más antiguas con rastros de lo que fueron calles adoquinado.
Y el río, de nombre Ariguanabo, con unos 8 km navegables, es uno de los lugares que más prefiero para la observación de aves.
Lo más curioso es que el mismo río termina su recorrido en el centro del pueblo, llega hasta una cueva y allí desaparece.
Encima de la cueva hay un gran árbol que le llamamos Ceiba. Nadie sabe con certeza dónde vuelve a salir el río, aunque, según mi amigo geógrafo, este sale en algún punto de la costa sur en el mar, pero sigue siendo un misterio.
Pues nada, hoy quería traerles algo diferente; si están por la provincia de Artemisa en Cuba, no dejen de venir a este lugar, les va a encantar.
