Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, created volcanically, building up from the ocean floor 20–50 million years ago. It is one of the most important tourist destinations in Spain. Tenerife is known internationally as the "Island of Eternal Spring" and enjoys a warm tropical climate with an average of 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in the winter and 24–28 °C (75–82 °F) in the summer.
