It all started 2 years ago when the Pintuyan became popular to tourists, from locals, national and international. Tik-tiki in visayan dialect or Whale Sharks caught the attention of many people, from the locals and tourists. In a specific season, many of them can be found. This terrifying creature, yet friendly, was being loved by the people. Then, encourage the people to come and visit the beautiful sanctuary of Son-oc, Pintuyan Southern Leyte. To make it popular not just from the region or the country, let the whole world learn about this giant creature. For the benefit of the town of course, the Tiki-tiki Festival was started, yeah, 2 years ago.

On the anniversary of the town on the 19 of March, the festival takes place. Started with the mass before the parade of colorful and traditional costumes, intentionally made for this specific festival. They encourage presentees from different brgy.s, towns or places to participate in the dance contest with the theme obviously of the festival. But before their presentation there was street dancing that probably people who were watching couldn’t help but be amazed.
Their traditional Filipino costumes like you can compare it with the costume of Sinulog. Made and designed from the old age, modernized to look good and outstanding. Performed the dance with instruments like drums, and more. The loudness of the crowd from cheering because of the beautiful presentation made the whole town livelier. Happy faces were seen from everywhere and along with excitement.
Each participant presented their graceful and meaningful dances that represent the Festival. It was a dance but can be understood like someone was telling a tale about how the Tiki-tiki Festival started. Then it was told how tourists were captivated by that whale shark and began to come with friends, and friends of friends.
The Festival helps the economy of the town as the people from different towns or maybe other regions gather. Not just raising the popularity of its Tourism but also helping the town's delicacy, specialty or learning new things what the town can offer.
