In the current digital age, everything has become at your fingertips. You no longer have to go to the library to read books, do research or find information, because everything is now available online. So the question arises in many minds - is the library still necessary? Or should the resources allocated in this sector be spent on other important sectors?
From my personal experience, the importance of the library is still undisputed. The library is not just a collection of books, but it is also a research center, a place to acquire knowledge and a symbol of a kind of disciplined education. If we become dependent only on digital platforms, many aspects of traditional knowledge will be lost. The quiet environment of the library, the smell of dusty books, and the preserved books necessary for research give us a unique experience, which is not possible on digital screens.
Another important aspect is that although information is easily available on the internet, its credibility cannot always be ensured. However, the books in the library are vetted by experts, which acts as a reliable source for students. Moreover, not all people have easy access to the internet, especially those living in developing regions. For them, libraries are still the main source of knowledge.
However, it must be admitted that the nature of libraries will have to change with time. If digital libraries, online catalogs and e-book facilities are added in line with technology, the relevance of libraries will increase further. It can become not just a place to read books, but a center for research, discussion and open knowledge.
Therefore, it can be said that libraries are still necessary and will remain so in the future. They are not just a monument of the past, but an integral part of education. Therefore, libraries are not unnecessary, but can be the right complement to the digital age if we ensure its proper use.
