Raising of broiler birds and turkey seems to be one of the fastest growing businesses in my country until different economic policies came up to sabotage the business.
Nonetheless we still grow some small quantity of the birds to serve as food. Been a crop farmer I have been looking at the various methods one can use go grow both crops and farm animals together.

One of the major advantages of growing both food crops and animals especially poultry together is that the waste products of one is beneficial to the growth of another. The waste products from proultry droppings is important for the growth of farm crops, while the grains harvested from farm can be processed into poultry feeds. This way it reduces the load of having to purchase everything from the market.

My both sisters decided to raise some turkey this year in which we wanted to do a little experiment to see which of the methods is best for raising turkey. After purchasing about two each of the turkey from the Agric store.
One of them feed her turkey to local foods in the house. After about 2months this is the level of growth for those turkey feed with local food. We do feed them grains like guinea corn, milled and grinded corn powder.

Even after two months they still looked very little and staying in the cage consistently.

The other caegory of the turkey have been grown for 2months as well but these were feed with foods from the Agric store and this is how they look like After 2months.

Anyone can see the huge differences in the growth of these two birds. They are both thesame specie of turkey birds in which the only difference is that they have been feed with different kinds of meal.

For farmers growing birds, the kinds of feeds we give go these birds us important while some people try to grow their poultry birds feeding them with local food in a bid fo avoid organic food that we sometimes believe it will be harmful for the birds and humans indirectly due to excessive inorganic chemicals used to boost their growth other just over use chemicals to grow birds and feed them with anything that will enable them to grow big at all cost and not minding the health challenge.

Having studied these two categories it is worth checking to see and know the kind of feeds and mixture of items used to grow the bigger poultry birds and see if one can improvise a different mixture of poultry feeds that will be both suitable for animal health and the humans that consume them directly.
