Hello Hive

Happy new day to us all, I hope that Monday is treating us nice enough as we have passed midday already and soon it will be evening, how time flies indeed.

I finally got to sew and complete the making of a jacket dress I had designed for my best friend. When she reach out to me if I could help her out with an outfit that has a jacket pattern like this one I was completed puzzled and had no idea of how to do this.
I stated with learning the nitty-gritty of how to cut a jacket pattern in this blog here https://peakd.com/hive-127911/@monica-ene/trying-out-one-of-the. After learning about how to cut the upper shawl necklines design I learnt alot of things which I would have knowm today if I didn't give it a trail.

After making the shawl jacket part, I just realized that there were other simpler methods I could use to achieve this, meanwhile I had gone about doing this the more professional way. I made a cut together collar but the collar can actually be cut separate and attached if that is how I want it, with the second method being easier.
Anyway the knowledge learnt is more important and I wouldn't have gotten to know all of these if I didn't give it an Attempt.

Having made this upperbodice I had requested that she tries it on let me check for fittings like an opening around the cleavage and all that. When this part seam fitted I proceeded to cut the lower part of the jacket that will make this an overlapping dress jacket.
The lower part is also an overlapping just like the upper part

So I slashed the upper flair into two as well in order to create the overlapping at the front. These were all cut and turned over with their corresponding linings cut in the same manner.

Next was the sleeve of the dress which is a simple straight sleeve

Having cut the two basic sleeves, I created a hemming for both of them and attached them to the dress bodice

The lower part of the dress was equally attached before then tacked the overlapping on each other using a hand needle and thread so that the front overlapping wont always respond to wind and open to reveal any part of the body.
Now our beautiful dress is completely and I'm grateful for accepting a challenge that has taught me some sewing tricks
