SKINCARE

Skincare is so important. I believe that what you put in your body is reflected on the outside and skincare should compliment that.

Staying hydrated is important but I’m the first one to say I’m not keen on water. I used to love drinking water and it would be all I drank but especially after having my son, water is my least favourite.

I’ve found to combat this, two things work for me. Every morning I fill a glass with ice and water and drink the entire glass. And every evening I slice cucumber and fruit eg grapes or melon and fill a hydrabottle with water and the fruit and cucumber refrigerating overnight for maximum flavour and drink that throughout the day.

My mum also placed high importance on skincare but she preferred to utilise natural ingredients and make her own concoctions. Eggs, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, turmeric, lemon, sugar and honey are the ingredients I remember the most.

This has definitely translated into how I prefer to care for my skin also.

For dry lips, lemon, brown sugar and honey are perfect. Mix together and use as a lip scrub.

Egg whites and lemon mixed and used a face mask. Great for controlling oily skin, tightens the face and the lemon brightens.

Turmeric is high in antioxidants and is great for exfoliating the skin and improving the skin texture. Combine with milk, flour and a little honey for a face mask.

I use coconut oil to remove make up prior to cleansing my face. Great for waterproof mascara!

Using natural ingredients is definitely my go to, but I’ve not always got the time. My favourite purchases are:

  1. Alpha H balancing cleanser with aloe.
  2. Estee Lauder perfectly clean
  3. Alpha H liquid gold
  4. Estee lauder intensive night repair
  5. Bobbi Brown intensive night repair eye cream
  6. The Ordinary hyaluronic acid
  7. The Ordinary aha peel

I’d always recommend that you seek the advice of a dermatologist and always read ingredients in case of allergies.

Skincare doesn’t need to be expensive and as I said before, it should compliment your lifestyle. It’s important to be hydrated, to protect your skin from sun damage by using an spf and to cleanse your face daily.
