It was created in 1959 by the painter and scientist Leovigildo González Morillo. It is located in the mogote called Pita, in the Sierra de los Órganos.
It is declared a Cultural Landscape of Humanity, in the Sierra de los Órganos, in 1999 by UNESCO.
