I am created in the image of God. One time when Jesus was teaching, he made a distinction on the two natures which we possibly could be classified into. He referred to the Jews that they were of the devil, their father because they were no walking in consonant with the expected nature of God. The Jews were claiming that they belong to God because they were the descendants of Abraham. That was not very correct. They were not actually what they professed that they were because they were living against the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ told them that if they were truly the descendants of Abraham, then they would have believed in Him.
This is an explanation that explains what we are. If we are the children of God then we should be living our lives according to the doctrines of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ proceeds from the Father. He came to teach us the ways of God. For us to please God and really prove that we are his offsprings, we must obey His commandments. The commandments of God are contained in the doctrines which the Lord Jesus Christ gave to us in the church. The son will always resemble his father. Our life proves who we truly resemble. If we are the carriers of God's nature, then we should be obedient to God in all things.
