Yesterday, Valentine's Day was celebrated and, along with my family, we decided to spend a different day in one of our favorite places: the Lomas de Cubiro. This place is very charming, with many mountains where we enjoyed a cold climate and a very peaceful natural environment, where you can also do various fun activities and enjoy delicious typical foods from the area. Come and I'll tell you how it went.
This February 14th, along with my mom and siblings, we decided to break away from the traditional and enjoy Valentine's Day with the family, except for my brother who did stick to the tradition a bit by going with his partner as well.
Everything for this day was a very quick decision, and in the morning we simply got everything ready quickly to go to Cubiro, a town located here in the state of Lara, in Venezuela, which we really enjoy visiting. Before leaving, we had a light breakfast and also picked up my brother's girlfriend who was waiting for us at her house.
When we were finally ready, we set off for our destination. The roads leading to the place are beautiful, with mountainous landscapes and beautiful light green tones that undoubtedly please anyone. Along the way, there are several viewpoints from which you can see hamlets in the distance and all the mountains and hills together. This, along with the cold, is what makes the experience of going to Cubiro so pleasant. From the city of Barquisimeto, where I live, it takes approximately 2 hours to get there, which go by super fast.
We arrived and the first thing we did was look for a place to park the car, and once we found it, we unloaded all our things and headed to any spot on the hills to sit down and eat something, as it was approximately 12 noon. To start, we ate some delicious sandwiches that we had brought and complemented them with some delicious corn on the cob with butter, which is one of the many things they sell there.
My mom, my little sister, and I spent a good time talking a bit among ourselves, resting on a couple of blankets that we had brought, exploring some other areas of the nearest hills and just relaxing a bit and getting away from the daily routine. Meanwhile, my brother and sister-in-law were enjoying a beautiful day as a couple.
Once it was 4 pm, we all got together again and packed up everything to go back home before it got dark. And, as is customary after a good outing to Cubiro, we finished with a horseback ride, a service offered by the inhabitants of the nearby towns and houses. We also ate some strawberries with cream, something that is also typically sold in this place, we bought some cacti that they were selling and left.
When we arrived in Barquisimeto, it was around 7 pm and we decided to also end with a delicious meal before taking my sister-in-law back to her house: some triple cheese burgers. At the place, when we finished eating, there was an event where they were taking photographs and we decided to take some that they handed to us immediately and that honestly turned out beautiful. My brother and his girlfriend also took a couple of photos and when they were ready we left, we dropped her off at her house and we, my mom, siblings, and I, finally went home to sleep and rest.
