The Cold Moon of 2025 was a supermoon and the last full moon of the year.

December 4th, is also the day when people traditionally would go out and cut a small branch from a fruit tree, like a cherry tree, and bring it inside and try to force it to flower. If it flowers by Christmas, then you have good luck. There's a whole story that goes along with it from St Barbara. But of course the tradition of gathering the branch goes back much farther than Saints do.

My son, taking phone photos of the December Cold Moon rising in Chicago.
