Happy Mother's Day Hive and InLeo
This Mother’s Day, we decided to keep things simple and honestly, it turned out to be one of the most special mornings we’ve had in a while. No fancy plans or big outings. Just us, a local café and a celebration of the incredible person who holds our family together, my partner.
We started the morning with sleepy eyes and the gentle chaos that comes with having little ones. There were sticky kisses, handmade cards and crayon drawings which are now taped to the fridge.
But soon, we packed up the kids and headed to a cozy local café that’s become a bit of a favourite of ours. It’s the kind of place where the staff know your name, the coffee is always hot, and there’s a little kids’ corner with toys that buy you just enough time to take a sip before it goes cold.
We ordered a round of pancakes, eggs on toast, babycinos, bacon and all the good stuff. There’s something so grounding about sharing a meal together in a busy cafe the noise, the crumbs, the laughs, the “I need to go to the toilet” mid bite moments and most importantly, no clean up required!.
But more than the food or the place, it was the chance to stop and really see each other that made the morning so meaningful. To see my partner not just as the incredible mum she is, but as the woman who brings warmth and joy into our everyday life.
She does it all with love: the late night wake ups, the school drop offs, the cuddles, the calm in the storm, the fierce protection and the endless patience. Today was about celebrating all of that.
We sat back, coffee in hand, watching the kids bounce between us and I just felt so grateful. Grateful for her. Grateful for motherhood. Grateful that even in the busy blur of parenting, we find these little pockets of peace and happiness like a café table filled with love and pancakes.
So here’s to all the mums and mother figures and especially to mine who make life sweeter just by being in it. Thank you for showing us what unconditional love looks like every single day.
Happy Mothers Day to this absolute legend Ashleigh Vandenberg.
I am in absolute awe of your will, dedication and perseverance in the face of adversity in standing up for everyone no matter.
I wish I could do more to help, but other than stand by your side and support you through the Highs and lows, all I can say is that I and many others are here for you.
You've set the standard at home to our children on what can be achieved.
