Esta canción la popularizó el padre del Soul. Un pianista y cantante invidente que tomó elementos de la música gospel y la secularizó de modo tal que abrió una puerta a un nuevo estilo donde gente como Aretha Franklin encontró su propio sonido. La canción está en ritmo de corchea de swing y la armonía camina alrededor siempre de una progresión blues, lo acompañé con la guitarra acústica y un pequeño coro de 3 clones que le dan cierto color afroamericano.
Pero más allá de mis melismas, registros y demás tecnicismos quiero compartirles mi emoción por cantar esta música que aunque ciertamente fue un reto no pude haberme sentido más cómodo haciendo esto. Gracias a mi querida @betamusic al concurso y a sus organizadores por la oportunidad que ofrecen cada semana de compartir estas cosas. Dios les bendiga a ustedes y al resto de participantes. This song was popularized by the father of Soul. A blind pianist and singer who took elements of gospel music and secularized it in a way that opened a door to a new style where people like Aretha Franklin found their own sound. The song is in the rhythm of the eighth note of the swing and harmony always goes around a blues progression, I accompanied it with the acoustic guitar and a small chorus of 3 clones that give it a certain African-American color.
But beyond my melismas, records and other technicalities I want to share my emotion for singing this music that although it was certainly a challenge I could not have felt more comfortable doing this.
