Erste Flugversuche/ First attempts at flying

Engel/ Angel Model: Anja

Since I'm currently "rummaging around" in my old photos, I'd like to show you some of my attempts to depict wings today. The first photo is one of my first pictures. It was taken in the Görlitz department store, on the legendary staircase of the "Grant Budapest Hotel". It was difficult to get to grips with the reflections on the pillars. At that time, I was still using spotlights to illuminate the room. I placed my model on the stairs with dancing wings. I illuminated them from behind with the flashlight, then I scanned my model without wings, in a different arm pose. Finally, I painted the ball of light with a fiber optic brush.

Vampir/ Vampire Model: Erik

This photo was taken on a night out in a nearby park. By chance, we came across a vampire. For this photo, I stood behind my model and illuminated the space between her arms and body with a tube in six steps. Then a kicklight from behind and from the front briefly lit up with red. The photo got its final light from the front using a flashlight.

Trauer/Mourning Model: Stepko

This photo, as simple as it looks, was a little more elaborate and still didn't turn out perfectly. It was taken in an old malt factory after the death of one of our beloved pets. I made these wings with the help of a template, which sounds simple but turned out to be fiddly work. I illuminated the model using fiber optic pom-poms, which is also how I made the blue glow in the model's hands. The blue "flames" were created using el-wire. I illuminated the room indirectly with a flashlight. Thank you for reading and I look forward to your comments.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?

Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.
