When traveling around Myanmar (formerly Burma), it is impossible to miss the city of Yangon (Rangoon), which, although no longer the capital of Myanmar, is still the largest city in the country.
Podróżując po Myanmar (dawna Birma) nie sposób ominąć miasta Yangun (Rangun), które choć nie jest już stolicą Myanmar, to jest jednak największym miastem w tym kraju.
This is where the 2,500-year-old Shwedagon Temple is located. This place is the most sacred and spiritual place in all of Myanmar.
To właśnie tam znajduje się licząca 2500 lat świątynia - Shwedagon. To miejsce to najbardziej święte i uduchowione miejsce w całym Myanmar.
This gigantic temple, almost 100 m high, is covered in large part with several thousand flakes of real gold, and supposedly the dome itself is covered with 5,000 diamonds. This extraordinary temple, although it looks kitschy because of its gold color, makes a huge impression, and changes your thinking when you learn that it is not gold paint but real gold.
Ta gigantyczna świątynia licząca sobie prawie 100 m wysokości pokryta jest w dużej części kilkoma tysiącami płatków z prawdziwego złota i podobno a sama kopuła pokryta jest 5000 diamentów. Ta niezwykła świątynia, choć wygląda kiczowato przez ten złoty kolor, robi ogromne wrażenie, i zmienia myślenie, gdy dowiadujemy się, że to nie złota farbka tylko prawdziwe złoto.
The temple is also said to contain various relics, including locks of Buddha's hair. We had the opportunity to view the Shwedagon during the day and after sunset. It looks much better in the evening than during the day.
W świątyni podobno znajdują się również różne relikwie, w tym kosmki włosów Buddy. Mieliśmy okazję obejrzeć Shwedagon podczas dnia i już po zachodzie słońca. Wieczorem wygląda znacznie lepiej niż za dnia.
The entire complex is explored barefoot, and unfortunately, during the day, it is a very unpleasant feeling, because the surface, although made of light tiles, heats up incredibly. Fortunately, there are fabric walkways along the entire walking route. You can walk on them without any problems.
Cały kompleks zwiedza się boso i niestety w ciągu dnia jest to bardzo przykre uczucie, ponieważ powierzchnia, mimo iż wykonana jest z jasnych płytek, nagrzewa się niesamowicie. Na szczęście wzdłuż całej trasy spacerowej rozłożone są chodniki z materiału. Po nich spaceruje się bezproblemowo.
As with any Buddhist temple, you must wear appropriate attire, meaning your legs and shoulders must be covered. My shorts easily covered my knees, so I had no problem getting in.
Jak w każdej świątyni buddyjskiej, trzeba mieć odpowiedni strój, czyli zakryte nogi i ramiona. Moje spodenki bezproblemowo zakrywały kolana, więc nie miałem problemu z wejściem.
Of course, as is the case with temples, there are many vendors offering various souvenirs, and it is impossible to count the number of collection containers placed around.
Oczywiście jak to w świątyniach, pełno jest handlarzy oferujących różne pamiątki, a porozstawiany pojemników do zbiórki pieniędzy nie sposób zliczyć.
The whole trip is an incredible experience and this place cannot be missed on the map of Myanmar, especially since the price of the entrance ticket is decent, around PLN 30.
Cała wycieczka jest niesamowitym przeżyciem i tego miejsca nie można ominąć na mapie Myanmar, tym bardziej, że cena za bilet wstępu jest przyzwoita, około 30 zł.
