Hello everyone, today I want to tell you that I'm doing an internship at the mayor's office in the municipality where I live, the General Manuel Cedeño Municipality.
It turns out I'm studying public accounting at the university called UNEG, or the National Experimental University of Guayana. Well, the truth is, I'm already in my final semester and I had to do an internship. To do it, everything was a protocol: printing, making copies, getting the professors and the managers of the company where I would be doing the work signed, and well, until I finally got it.
I chose the Municipal Treasury Department, where there are several departments. One of them is located outside the mayor's office, but the other two are there. Those two departments are: collections and liquor. I'm in the collections area.
This area is very interesting. Taxpayers, who are the ones who will be paying taxes, can also be called passive subjects. When they want to pay any type of tax, be it land tax, real estate tax, certificate of use, or occupancy, the account is simply charged at the central bank rate, and they must pay. Another thing we do is issue invoices at the time of payment, review the files of each company or entrepreneur, and verify that they are up to date. If they have been out of date for a long time, we move those files to inactive files, which are called "dead files" in the office.
At the end of each month, a closing is performed, which involves taking each payment, printing them, and then verifying that the balance is equal in all systems, whether manual or online.
The start time is at 8:00 a.m. and the end time is at 2:00 p.m., but since it's very hot, we're leaving at 12:30 p.m.
It's very nice to share what happened with other colleagues; they're new to me, and although it's not entirely similar to my career, I find it very enjoyable. I'm not done yet. It's been 16 weeks, three of which I've been through, and I hope to keep learning.
Thank you so much for reading my post. Here are some pictures 🙂
