A Fight Between Senior on Junior

By @lagnarok3/29/2023splinterlands

Hello Splinters, I'm Lagnarok, and Welcome to my Weekly Social Media Challenge section. Disagreement between Senior and Junior within The Pretorian's Academy escalated, and each tried to talk about reasons for which strategy was the best to cope with certain situations. Since no one knows which strategy is right, they have decided to duel in a ranked match to prove it.

Ilthain's Life Story

Pledged into service by the Silver Shield, Ilthain was a warrior trained in martial arts. She spent her days working in communities and helping those less fortunate. At night, however, she acted on behalf of the Silver Shield to rid the land of the corrupt, using her unique abilities to bring peace to Khymeria by purging it of its lawless rebels. She became so well known among the people that when she passed on, thousands of mourners followed her body as it was carried to the Peace of Light Monastery and entombed within a great mausoleum. Following many supplications from the people, Ilthain was eventually named a saint on the first anniversary of her death. There was much rejoicing. Every year, celebrations were held to honour and remember her deeds—that is until the Chaos Legion invaded.

The Battle happened in a Wild Gold League in a ranked match. The battle details are 44 mana caps with "Tis But Scratches," "Keep Your Distance," and "What Doesn't Kill You" rulesets. Today's battle is a very special case, and I decided to move to the Gold league from Silver to understand how the three rulesets work. Since Guild Brawl also uses three rulesets, I hope, I can do much better in my brawl as I played in Gold League.

Battle Preparation & Strategies

Name Lv Ability
Ilthain Lv 3 +1 Speed, Return Fire
Lord Arianthus Lv 2 Shield, Void, Magic Reflect
Cornealus Lv 2 Heal, Thorns
Prismatic Energy Lv 4 Magic Reflect
Defender of Truth Lv 3 Protect
Venari Crystalsmith Lv 4 Tank Heal
Dax Paragon Lv 2 Amplify

My Strategy points lie on "Counter Attack" with Ruleset "Keep Your Distance" and only Fire, Life, Death, and Dragon Factions, which makes me easier to do this. As I thought, since no Magic Specialize, such as Water and Earth Faction mostly, my Opponent would use a Ranged-type meta.
To make my "Counter Attack" strategy works, I put 4 important key points in my lineup.

  • First, Lord Arianthus is the Best choice for my Main tank, except for no attacks; this is the perfect tank ever.
  • Second, Cornealus plays an important role in defending the aftermath, just in case my Opponent takes advantage with "Blast, the Black Pearls."
  • Third, An extra protection from the Defender of the Trut, with +2 Armor, will able to hold some candle to a certain point.
  • Fourth, Amplify from the Dax Paragon. I hoped that Dax Paragon Amplified the aftermath. It could take down my opponent's monsters, And that is why I put Dax Paragon on the back of the Line since the ability effect remains till he dies.

Did my Strategy Works?

Yes, It did work nearly flawlessly. I'm pretty lucky my opponent only used 1 monster that I can say is a variable for my strategy: "Ash Mirag, Reflection Shield." if He decided to make some adjustments and put Ash Mirage with Cornealus in his lineup, I'll be doomed. Fortunately, I Won the match.
