Yellow is one of those colors that doesn’t need much effort to stand out. It doesn’t demand attention — it simply has it. Even surrounded by deep greens and shadow like in the pictures here, it feels like a small, natural spotlight. Like a little sun in the dark.
So this series is focused on the SENNA FLOWER, photographed during one of my walks through a botanical garden. I always enjoy places like that, because they are full of quiet surprises — plants from different climates, unusual shapes, textures and colors that you don’t necessarily encounter on an ordinary walk. And that everything in one place! 😃
What I love about flowers like senna is their balance: delicate petals, strong structure and this warm golden tone that almost looks unreal against a darker background. The contrast is gentle, but powerful at the same time.
SENNA belongs to the legume family (Fabaceae) and includes hundreds of species found mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. Many of them grow as shrubs or small trees and are known for their bright yellow blossoms, which attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Interestingly, senna plants also play an important ecological role: as legumes, they can improve soil quality by working with nitrogen-fixing bacteria in their roots, enriching the ground naturally.
Some species of senna have a long history in traditional medicine, although they must be used carefully and only with proper knowledge, because certain compounds can be quite strong. In botanical gardens, senna is often cultivated not only for its decorative beauty, but also as an example of how plants combine aesthetics, biology and practical uses in one elegant form.
That is the soft power of yellow.
