On May 11, the news portal Cheddar reported that the social network Facebook is considering the possibility of creating its own cryptocurrency.
As an anonymous source said, Facebook Corporation is seriously thinking about launching its own digital coin, which will be available in the application.
It is worth noting that the news appeared the same week when it became known that the main developer of Messenger, David Marcus intends to move to a group of developers who are engaged in the development of Blockchain technology.
Marcus’s translation could not help attracting attention, as he previously worked in the financial sector and worked with PayPal, and at the end of 2017 joined the Coinbase, a US-based crypto exchange. It is worth noting that the CEO of Coinbase praised the experience of Marcus in various industries, such as mobile communications and finance.
Nevertheless, this decision by Facebook caused a lot of controversy and doubt, as earlier this year the company decided to ban the placement of cryptocurrency advertising on its website.
