What’s up, friends?! I have been sitting over this computer and my old 2012 retina MacBook Pro [@guthrie inherited it in Christmas of 2020]. My entire day has been spent trying to repartition his HD to play a $10 Steam game! There have been several times that he’s had a want or need for Windows and I always put this off. I knew how ugly it was going to be and it hasn’t let me down. I think I’m closing in on the final stretch but I had to completely erase, restore and reinstall macOS on this old ass computer. I hope one day he reads these posts and appreciates the stupid amount of effort for a single game.
Tonight, I want to share some of my favorite pieces of art from Dark Pinup Act One. For those not familiar with the set, this was the first release of @facingsofficial on the WAX blockchain and it featured my photography. It was a time of optimism and enthusiastic uncertainty. I know there are several artists here on Hive like @yanes94 and @midlet that do single NFT drops on ETH and @nftshowroom, but Dark Pinup was a whole production. Packs, left over wrappers and varying rarities of the cards that comprise the entire set.
Candlelights were the most rare and are by far my favorite cards in both Act One and Act Two. This was a collaboration between myself and Schwartzbacca. He’s a heavy hitter in the WAX and ETH NFT space but together, we thought out the effect of making it look like the candles are actually burning within these otherwise static dark pinup photos. I explained the concept, but he took it so much further by bouncing glimmers of candlelight against the surrounding glass and even bodies and faces of the models!
This was an exercise in the spirit of collaboration. That was one of the best parts of my time with @facingsofficial. Working with @swarddraws, @bryanimhoff and the rest of the creative team at the company, but my most coveted experience was seeing Bacca take my art and turn it in to something even more breathtaking than the idea I had in my mind.
