The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025), to be held in Morocco, is just a few days away as at the time of writing this. Below are the details of the qualified nations and their respective groups.

GROUP A

Morocco

Mali

Zambia

Comoros

Rating the teams based on their performances so far, Morocco is tipped to top this group, especially with the added advantage of playing at home. The remaining three nations make it very difficult to predict which will finish second. It is a very high-stake battle for Mali, Zambia, and Comoros. Please, do not think of writing off Comoros!

GROUP B

Egypt

South Africa

Angola

Zimbabwe

This is a very tough group to battle for the top two spots, especially among Egypt, South Africa, and Angola. Honestly, I cannot say which of them will be left out. I just cannot say!

GROUP C

Nigeria

Tunisia

Uganda

Tanzania

Without mincing words, this should be an easy group for Nigeria to top. Tunisia is rated to come out as second. Yes, Uganda and Tanzania will need a miracle to survive at the mercy of Nigeria and Tunisia. Well, anything can still happen.

GROUP D

Senegal

DR Congo

Benin

Botswana

This is also a very tough group. Although Senegal is rated to top the group, the stakes are high considering the current form of DR Congo and Benin. Botswana? No, they do not have space for either first or second position, except if the god of football smiles on them.

GROUP E

Algeria

Burkina Faso

Equatorial Guinea

Sudan

Going by big names, Algeria is rated the best here and is likely going to top the group if they play according to their outstanding legacy. The other three are going to battle fiercely to see who takes the second spot, and absolutely no one should be written off here.

GROUP F

Côte d'Ivoire

Cameroon

Gabon

Mozambique

Côte d'Ivoire are the defending champions, but to be sincere, they won the last tournament with a lot of luck. Cameroon have also not been impressive. I would say both Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon are on the same level, and they can also be measured alongside Gabon. So, any two of these three teams are free to qualify from this group. No, no, no chance for Mozambique at all.

The tournament kicks off on 21st December 2025 in Morocco. More updates will come as the time draws nearer and also during the games.
