So how many of you heard from Al Gore that snow would be a thing of the past? You are probably told that the planet is a freaking runaway fireball. Well this winter especially for those in the Northern US should be screaming bullshit to everybody. So you are asking me where is the proof? If the weather was getting warmer you'd think that there would be less snow right? Those of you like I am that are 40N need to especially be paying attention. I got the snowfall for basically the northern tier of the US this winter right here.If you click on the link below they show you what average is and you can make comparasions yourself, suffice to say though snow is not a thing of the past.

This is the Northern Hemisphere snow mass chart that is produced by the Danish Meteorological Institute. This shows us just exactly how much more snow has fallen this snow season than average for the entire Northern Hemisphere not just the US. As you can plainly see it is significantly above normal and it shouldn't be on a warming planet. What has my interest in following this data is how much snow will be come July 18, does it all melt before or after that date. If the snow stays until say late August maybe there might be places that see year round snow.

This image here is the temperatures in the high Arctic so far this year. There was a massive stratospheric warming event that tends to pull the cold out of the Arctic and into the lower latitudes when they happen. This explains the heat spike you see in the middle of February, but let me also remind you that the blue line is the freezing mark and we are well below that even now. How could all the Arctic sea ice melt away when the melt season in the high arctic is so short?
