In my latest post, I mentioned the new ability Mimic as a wild card ability, as the outcome of this ability effect is difficult to predict. The ability which will be gained might also unsuitable with the battle conditions or ruleset. So I guess the only way to know this is by try out simulation. So here's several battle experience where I used Olivia Of The Brook.
BATTLE #1
On 2nd round, my Olivia managed to mimic Strengthen from Thane Newsong, thus directly granting +1 health to the entire team at the start of the battle. We could see that Terraceous Grunt pumped up from 11 health to 12 health. Splinterlands support mention that
Mimic grant 25% chance to gain a random ability from an attacker when hit. Olivia did got hit by Madcap Magus with 3 possible abilities to gain, that is Life Leech, Affliction, and Dispel. But 25% chances seemed too slim for Olivia to capture the abilities.
Unfortunately this battle ended up too son to see further effect of Mimic. So lets move to the 2nd battle.
BATTLE #2
This battle also didn't rung long. I got outmaneuvered by the magic damage. In this battle Olivia Of The Brook acquire Silence from Mushroom Seer. Unfortunately the ability are less effective as only my opponent only deployed 2 (two) magic cards.
BATTLE #3
This battle run longer than my previous battle. Starting the 2nd round, Olivia gained Tank Heal which helped Imperial Knight sustain the battle. The battle run to the 3rd round, and Olivia gained Scavenger. Unfortunately my formation fall behind facing combination of Heal, Tank Heal, and Repair.
BATTLE #4
This is the last battle, and unfortunately this also didn't run long. I got ambushed from behind by Katrelba Gobson. On 2nd round, Olivia gained Tank Heal which unfortunately again become ineffective to heal the 1 health Dumacke Orc.
These certainly isn't a great experience, but a lesson learn is found. I admit the difficulty to find match between acquired ability with the battle conditions and formation. Second, Mimic only work if the battle goes into long run, I would guess at least into 4th round. At this point gaining 3 ability seemed a break-even point. So far, mid mana cap might not enough, and high mana cap, somewhere beyond 50 mana, should be the ideal level.
