Governance by Muppets; The players in our political playground...

You would assume that one of the benefits of having a government is that they make life easier for people, but that's only the case in countries with a functioning government. The outcome is usually different in countries where government is more interested in embezzlement and the adoption of extreme measures to cover their tracks.
Take this from someone who has experienced a fair share of bad government;
The government which I know too well is filled with people who talk about beliefs and justice, but in actuality, they get together to rig everything and feed lies to the populace. And when they are caught, they are never sorry because they know the system so well and they know that the system is rigged.
They say they are untouchable by the law. Maybe that's also a lie they choose to tell themselves, but you wouldn't blame me or a typical Citizen of that kinda country for believing such lies. The reason is quite obvious; they are truly above the law and the law dances to the tune of their music.
The media in a fairly decent part of the world can be very instrumental in unmasking the facade these Politicians put on when milking the system with their cons, but the same media are toothless over here. Their hunt for ad revenue has already made them tools that are used by the highest bidding Politicians to sell lies to the populace.
Oh, make no mistake about these... I'm not making any of them up.
There are sufficient data to back it up and we are faced with recurring incidents which clearly show that our (Nigerian) Government do not give a damn about the shit that goes on with an average citizen. If anything, I believe the civility in my words so far is my way of downplaying the level of muppetry that makes up our government.
Let's take the recent 'Naira Redesign Policy' in Nigeria as an example. As far as the outcome suggests on both the microscopic and macroscopic aspects of the economy, the consequence of that policy maximized the level of suffering faced by Citizens in the first quarter of this year. And, this doesn't even tell the whole story.
When the chips are down, average citizens under such a government would be left with the option of killing themselves with worries while doing whatever they can to make ends meet.
For those in my part of the world, it has become glaring to us that the major thing we need to stand a chance of being a country that is as developed as the top countries in the world is a sorta overhaul of the kinda players in our political playground. This is easier said than done and that's the bitter side of our reality.
How is governance in your part of the world? Is it a breath of fresh air?
