Good morning, everyone; I’m thrilled to have you here in this space. Once again you’ll welcome to my blog. This morning, I want to share my view with you on what I title Domestic violence.
This topic will be very interesting because I will be linking it with my yesterday’s experience.
But before I continue, I would love to share briefly with us what Domestic violence is because so many marriages and long-standing relationships have been ruined all because of this very act.
In my view, the word domestic violence, in its actual sense, refers to the form of violence that occurs between partners. It could be physical, psychological as well as emotional abuse which occurs in a romantic relationship.
I want to share a true life story that occurred yesterday night at my residence. There’s a particular couple who live close to my residence. They have five children, three females and two males. According to them, they’ve been married for over fourteen years without any problem.
The man is an entrepreneur, and his wife is also an entrepreneur. To me, it’s a very beautiful thing for couples to have a good handwork that is helping them to take care of their family. Ever since I packed in there, I’ve never heard them have a misunderstanding before.
But it occurred that it happened yesterday night, and that led to domestic violence. I was inside my room enjoying music when I heard two voices exchanging words. But those words were horrible so I decided to go out and see what had transpired between those two people.
To my greatest surprise, I saw these two couples holding each other’s sleeves. So, I pleaded with them to stop disgracing themselves in public. But none of them agreed to leave each other’s sleeve. While I was still there, two couples from the same neighborhood came out and shouted at them.
One of those neighbors was able to ask them the cause of their fight, and the man said it’s been three weeks since his wife demanded two of their children’s School fees. And he told her he would give her the money before the weekend.
But it turned out that the man was not making good sales from his business, and he couldn’t give his wife the money he promised, and that’s what led to the fight. So the man also asked the woman that same question, and she gave the same response.
The man asked her if her husband had been paying his children’s school fees, and she said yes. The man told her that if he couldn’t pay this time around, she should cover him up by paying it, but she still insisted that he must give her the money that yesterday night so she could pay it today.
Everyone was angry at her, and that made all the neighbors return to their respective homes, leaving them to sort things out for themselves. They fought till about 12. PM. Around that time I heard a loud cry, and it was the wife’s voice.
She was crying for help, I went out again to know why she was crying. But what I saw, I couldn’t withstand it, I had to rush back to my house. I saw blood everywhere, the man had succeeded in cutting his wife’s hand with his machete, and she was lying down on the floor.
When I woke up this morning, I discovered that the woman couldn’t survive it, so she passed out around 3. am today. It was such a pathetic situation, the man cried too much in such a way that he couldn’t control it. He was telling everyone that his wife forced him to do what he did, and sadly enough, he ended up taking his wife’s life.
In conclusion, domestic violence is very bad, and we shouldn’t get involved in such an act anywhere. Had it been the both of them listened to what the neighbors said, that wouldn’t have occurred.
As married couples, please understand when one of you is lacking, and do well to take over responsibility from your spouse. Learn to tolerate each other, for peace to reign.
