Now the winter season is truly felt in Cuba. Since winter began in this part of the Caribbean, in my country we have noticed a change toward cooler temperatures, although until now we had not experienced intense cold. Of course, intense cold at the level of Cuba, between 10 and 12 degrees, which here is already considered quite cold, although during the day they usually rise a little more. And it is in this cold that I have discovered that precisely this climate seems to be especially good for some of the plants I have planted in my modest garden, especially the cachucha pepper.
All my plants are planted in pots of different sizes, or in “simulations of pots.” These chili ones in particular have cost me quite a bit of work to achieve. Before they germinated I sowed the seeds on more than one occasion until finally, after several days of rain, the tiny plants began to sprout from the earth. Perhaps it is because in pots they do not have the same space to grow, but even so they insisted on coming out, and that made me very happy.
What made me happy was when one of them began to bloom. There were only two flowers and only one bore fruit. However, since the cold season began, a season that I personally appreciate very much because here almost the whole year it is extremely hot, they began to have shoots and flowers. And from each small flower some green chili fruits have begun to grow.
That is something that makes me very happy, and every morning I go out to count the fruits and the new flowers that are appearing. I almost have a small harvest at home, haha. My garden is for me an entertainment, a challenge that I imposed on myself to prove that I was capable of maintaining this small green space which over time has been growing and taking on a life of its own.
That is why I have wanted to share this small achievement with the members of this community, because I know that, like me, they also feel great passion for everything that nature gives us.
This month of December that just ended has been especially beautiful; I see my plants more leafy and some have begun to bloom in a charming way.

Ahora sí se siente la temporada invernal en Cuba. Desde que comenzó el invierno en esta parte del Caribe, en mi país hemos notado un cambio hacia temperaturas más frescas, aunque hasta ahora no habíamos experimentado un frío intenso. Claro un frío intenso al nivel de Cuba, entre 10 y 12 grados, lo que aquí ya se considera bastante frío, aunque durante el día suelen subir un poco más. Y es en este frio que he descubierto que precisamente este clima parece ser especialmente buenos para algunas de las plantas que tengo sembradas en mi modesto jardín, sobre todo las de ají cachucha.
Todas mis plantas están sembradas en macetas de distintos tamaños, o en “simulaciones de macetas”. Estas de ají en particular me han costado bastante trabajo lograrlas. Antes de que germinaran sembré las semillas en más de una ocasión hasta que finalmente, después de varios días de lluvia, comenzaron a brotar las diminutas plantas de la tierra. Quizás se deba a que en macetas no tienen el mismo espacio para crecer, pero aun así se empeñaron en salir y eso me alegró mucho.
De lo que me alegré fue cuando una de ellas comenzó a florecer. Fueron solo dos flores y únicamente una dio fruto. Sin embargo, desde que empezó la estación fría, una estación que yo en lo personal agradezco mucho porque aquí casi todo el año hace muchísimo calor, comenzaron a tener brotes y flores. Y de cada pequeña flor han empezado a crecer unos frutos verdes de ají.
Eso es algo que me tiene muy contenta y todas las mañanas salgo a contar los frutos y las nuevas flores que van apareciendo. Ya casi tengo una pequeña cosecha en casa, jaja. Mi jardín es para mí un entretenimiento, un reto que me impuse para probarme que era capaz de mantener este pequeño espacio verde el que con el tiempo ha ido creciendo y tomando vida propia.
Por eso he querido compartir este pequeño logro con los miembros de esta comunidad, porque sé que como yo, también sienten gran pasión por todo lo que la naturaleza nos regala.
Este mes de diciembre que recién acabó ha sido especialmente bonito, veo mis plantas más frondosas y algunas han empezado a florecer de una manera encantadora.
