Here's something I have literally...Never done on this blockchain.
Dedicate a few hundred words to the state of politics in my country. And rest assured, this won't become a habit :)
However, there was a pretty important election held last night in the true north strong and free aka Canada. And for the 4th time in a row, our country will be run by the Liberal party.
A few things to put into context before my speech. I am NOT loyal to any one political party. I have always sided on the issues, not so much party policies. Because when push comes to shove, I think they are all corrupt lol
But the big one is that the only government I am loyal to is heavenly. I am on God's side. Not the left, not the right. And God decides who He raises up and who He brings down. Governments come and go all the time, but the heavenly government will last forever.
O.k., no onto the election...
Over the past 9 years or so, Justin Trudeau has been our prime minister. And it doesn't take a class in politics to know, he wasn't very popular during his later years. In fact, all you had to do was drive around the highways of Canada for a few minutes and you'll see a truck with the 'F&&K Trudeau' decals plastered all over it.
Classy, I know.
Anywho, this set things up for the Conservatives, lead by Pierre Poilievre to snatch a victory with ease. The issue was that the Liberals knew they just needed time....
And time is what they got. For years, Justin Trudeau formed a minority government with the NDP (social party of Canada) which basically shut down the Conservatives attempt to call an election. While Pierre was riding high, he was blocked at every opportunity to get an election called and pretty much guaranteeing the Conservatives a government.
The Liberals just needed time...And when it was the perfect time to call it quits, Justin left the party and the reigns were handed over to Mark Carney, a guy who didn't even live in Canada and holds like 3 different passports lol
You can't make this stuff up...
And then Trump happened. The US President started calling Canada the 51st state and that's the perfect 'fear' that the Liberals needed.
With a new leader at the helm, and an 'enemy of Canada's sovereignty' in the scope, the Liberals had the perfect opportunity to snatch victory from the hands of defeat. And last night they did.
Again, remember I don't have any one part that I align with so for me, I was just fascinated at how strategic the Liberals were. The right time, the right enemy, the right amount of fear to the masses...Equaled being elected for the 4th time in a row.
Classic poli-tricks.
The issue for me personally is that I live in a province (Alberta) that is the economic wheel box of the country that is constantly ignored by earth Canada and has to settle for the reults of an election that is decided well before the votes are counted in the west.
Alberta is in a very tough spot because the east literally hates the oil and gas industry, which would essentially make Canada one of the richest countries on the planet...Except for, the Liberal government stopping the pipelines from being built at every turn.
The Liberals didn't form a majority government, so they will need to 'get in bed' with another party. I guess that'll be fun to watch lol. I'm not sure what the future will bring, but I think Canada is about to go through some big changes and soul searching over the next few months...
And that's the last political post for a while :)
