The Quiet Beginning: How Cassava Establishes Itself in the First Weeks After Planting

“Every big harvest starts like this small, fragile, and easy to overlook."

The soil and weather conditions don't look like the best for planting anything right now, but nevertheless, I still went through with it because I am planting one crop that has survived difficult seasons in the past.

Since the first leaf sprang up, everything has been easy-going, with no problems from the soil, pests, or diseases.

Now it is still a long way off before we start talking about harvest so a lot of things can change within a short while but right now everything is doing just fine.

Looking at how expensive cassava can be most times it is very difficult to believe that this expensive tuber was actually planted using its stem compared to tubers like yam where the tuber itself is the part that is planted.

Planting with stems is also so easy compared to tubers it takes less than an hour to plant large farmlands cause all you have to do is cut the stems into small stems fit for planting then you can go around dipping them into the soil.

For as long as the stem still has life it will eventually come up with so many green leaves signifying the beginning of life for this crop.
