Cantico de Navidad

Cantico de Navidad es una hermosa canción que he estado escuchando toda la semana en "Nuestra Navidad", el primer álbum musical navideño de mi agrupación coral y realmente se siente como una caricia para los oídos al ser uno de los track centrales del mismos. Fue escrita por la compositora Blanca Estella de Méscoli, pero el arreglo coral para cuatro voces pertenece al Maestro Inocente Carreño y aunque el repertorio coral navideño venezolano resalta por aguinaldos más alegres, parrandas y gaitas, este es de los pocos villancicos que ofrecen paz en su armonía basado en el nacimiento de Jesús, y en mi opinión, no tiene la misma calidad de éxitos internacionales como Silent Night u O Holy Night, pero con sello venezolano... El video que les comparto a continuación es de Diciembre de 2021, lo tenía guardado para una ocasión especial y ese día ha llegado:

Cantico de Navidad is a beautiful song that I have been listening to all week in “Nuestra Navidad”, the first Christmas music album of my choral group and it really feels like a caress to the ears as it is one of the central tracks of the album. It was written by composer Blanca Estella de Méscoli, but the choral arrangement for four voices belongs to Maestro Inocente Carreño and although the Venezuelan Christmas choral repertoire stands out for more joyful aguinaldos, parrandas and gaitas, this is one of the few Christmas carols that offer peace in its harmony based on the birth of Jesus, and in my opinion, it does not have the same quality of international hits like Silent Night or O Holy Night, but with Venezuelan seal... The video I share below is from December 2021, I had it saved for a special occasion and that day has arrived:

Conocí esta canción por medio de mis papás en mi infancia y la canté por primera vez siendo barítono en la Coral del Colegio de Abogados del Estado Aragua, la cual dirigía mi papá en ese entonces. Esta era una de las canciones favoritas de papá para cada Diciembre, y se encargaba de que alguna de sus agrupaciones la interpretara siempre. Le gustaba la dulzura, la sencillez de su lectura para coros de nivel básico y porque le encantaba enaltecer la música venezolana. Yo me alegré mucho cuando me enteré que Cantico de Navidad sería parte de nuestro álbum navideño, pero al final resultó ser más hermoso que nunca, como mi tesis cantándola, y es que nuestra directora y nuestros compañeros tuvieron la brillante idea de agregar un arpa y suena como una canción de ensueño para la víspera de Navidad. Les recomiendo este disco no solo porque me hace feliz ser parte de él, sino porque es de gran calidad y un regalo para Venezuela y el mundo, además, esta semana mis compañeros han estado en la radio y promocionando en redes sociales, humildemente a mí me toca promocionarlo en mi amado Hive 🙏

I knew this song through my parents when I was a child and I sang it for the first time as a baritone in the Aragua State Bar Association Choir, which my father directed at that time. This was one of my dad's favorite songs for every December, and he always made sure that one of his groups performed it. He liked the sweetness, the simplicity of its reading for elementary choirs and because he loved to praise Venezuelan music. I was very happy when I found out that Cantico de Navidad would be part of our Christmas album, but in the end it turned out to be more beautiful than ever, like my thesis singing it. Our director and our colleagues had the brilliant idea of adding a harp and it sounds like a dream song for Christmas Eve. I recommend this album not only because it makes me happy to be part of it, but because it is of great quality and a gift for Venezuela and the world, also, this week my colleagues have been on the radio and promoting it on social networks, humbly it's my turn to promote it on my beloved Hive 🙏
