I wanted to share a quick doodle I made today while waiting for the kids. It is just something I felt like drawing while I had a few quiet minutes. I decided to sketch a man with a little cat resting right on his shoulder I made it for caturday. It’s such a nice, cozy feeling when a pet wants to be that close to you together while you go on an adventure.
I must admit, I’m still sticking with my PenUp app and this time I swapped that favorite fountain pen brush with a dry brush. I really like how the lines aren't perfectly straight as you can see the wobble in the hair and the cat's blanket. To me, those little imperfections make the drawing feel more alive and human I prefer this loose style because you can tell a real hand was behind it hahaha.
I used this shade of pink or could it be plum for the coat because I wanted the character to pop against the simple background. It’s unbelievable how much personality you can give a sketch just by playing with the line thickness and some bold colors.
