Good day, hivers! How are you? I hope life's treating you well.
By the way,
@itsmemic once again, and now I’ll be sharing where we had a refreshing and well-deserved break after class.
After a long day of classes, my friend and I were already feeling exhausted. Now it was six in the evening, and honestly, our stomachs were louder than our thoughts. We wanted to eat somewhere different—not just the usual carinderia near school. We also wanted to see something nice, somewhere peaceful where we could just sit and forget about school for a while. That’s when we thought of Dockside in Medellin.
Arriving at Dockside
The idea of eating by the water while enjoying the fresh air sounded perfect. So, without thinking twice, we decided to go.
Medellin is a bit of a drive, but totally worth it.
When we got there, this is what we saw first. I mean, right before you step into that main Dockside area, you get to see this open room with tables and chairs set up in it. It's relatively similar to a patio but bigger, and it has this chill kind of laid-back aura.
Exploring the Food Options
Minutes later, we found a nice spot and started checking out the food options. There were different stalls offering all kinds of food, and choosing what to eat was a challenge (because everything looked good!). The ambiance was rather nice and contributed a lot to us being delighted by the food. Exactly what we needed after a tiring day.
Anyway, since our usual food was always barbecue and chicken, when I arrived at this restaurant, I saw that they also had barbecue and other dishes available. Then, my companion told me, “Let’s not get barbecue this time since we always eat that. I replied: "Sure, let's try a different meal this time."
I then went for sisig and rice, which was great because there was still some available; the vendors mentioned that this is one of the best-selling dishes here.
And here it is—we actually ordered the same thing!
Since I forgot to take my tumbler with warm water, we got Mountain Dew, another sweet soft drink.
Appreciating the Moment
After having dinner, we walked around and saw this—the giant crab statue!
The moment I saw it, I immediately remembered our discussion about crab mentality last year. As I mentioned the words “crab mentality” to my friend, she responded, “Oh yeah, it was there.” And it just so happened that on the left side of the crab, there was a sign that said:
“Crab mentality – If I can’t have it, neither can you!”
On the other hand, since Dockside is right on the water, you get the whole view of the ocean, the sky, and at nighttime it... is just... wow. The lights in the place reflected off the water, and it couldn't have been any prettier and calmer. We just sat there, talked, and laughed for some time and soaked in the moment.
As it was already pretty late, and I was not in a mood to walk any great distance back, so I headed that way.
The perfect place to unwind after a long day. You know, when you just have to be away from everything for a while? That's what Dockside was for us; a simple place, but great food, good view, and chill ambiance.
If you're ever in Medellin, make it an essential stop. This is the best hangout for friends—grab some food, and just chill and enjoy the beauty of the ocean.
I think it even felt better going there right after class-kind of like a vacation but only for some hours. And visiting new places is always fun, especially when one such place happens to be a hidden gem like Dockside!
So that was our little adventure to Dockside, my dear hivers! What a sweet way to end a day! I can't wait to go back there again soon!
