To begin with, living this experience was a bit complicated, because they don't let you enter or take pictures of the facility. And since I'm a fan of adrenaline, I hid in the back to avoid being discovered by the hotel security 😄 and take the following pictures for the community.
Para empezar, vivir está experiencia fue un poco complicada, pues no dejan entrar, ni tirar fotos de la instalación. Y como soy fans de la adrenalina, me adentre escondido por su parte trasera para no ser descubierto por la seguridad del hotel 😄 y hacerles las siguientes tomas fotográficas para la comunidad.
The Muthu Colonial hotel first in the tourist destination of Cayo Coco, currently abandoned, destroyed and in the process of remodeling. It was a 4 star resorts 🌟 unique in the country, with significant colonial architecture and ambiance.
According to the security of the estancia, in 2023 it was closed for renovations, the rooms, its windows, showers, doors, etc. were completely emptied.
Opinions were always good while it was in operation. But the question everyone in Cuba is asking: Why destroy it?
El hotel Muthu Colonial primero en el destino turístico de Cayo Coco, actualmente abandonado, destruido y en procesos de remodelación. Fue un resorts 4 estrellas 🌟 único en el país, con una arquitectura y ambiente colonial significativo.
Según la seguridad de la estancia, en 2023 fue cerrado por reformas, se vaciaron completamente las habitaciones, sus ventanas, duchas, puertas, etc.
Las opiniones siempre fueron buenas mientras funcionaba. Pero la pregunta que todos se hacen en Cuba: ¿Por que Destruirlo?
My first encounter was with some classic Spanish rooms in green and brown, in a contrasting dilapidated state.
A pity to enter and see this situation, where only a few years ago it was full of clients enjoying their splendid vacations.
Mi primer encuentro fue con unas habitaciones clásicas españolas de colores verde y marrón, en un contraste estado ruinoso.
Una lastima entrar y ver esta situación, donde tan solo hace unos años estaba lleno de clientes disfrutando de sus espléndidas vacaciones.
As we can see, the interiors of the suites are in complete disrepair, with damaged floors and walls, without furniture or decoration, all in total oblivion.
Even the wild vegetation is trying to take over the place in general, since it is in such a period of instability.
Cómo podemos observar, los interiores de las suite están en completo deterioro, con los suelos, paredes dañados, sin mobiliarios, ni decoración, todo en un olvido total.
Hasta la vegetación silvestre intenta apoderarse del lugar en general, al estar tanto período de inestabilidad.
As a curious fact and why it was one of the most requested hotels by foreigners, was its privileged location. It is in a paradisiacal area, known for its pristine beaches and crystal clear waters.
This contrasts sharply with the current state of abandonment of the property, making it also fascinating from a visual and symbolic perspective.
Como dato curioso y por el cual era uno de los hoteles más solicitados por los extranjeros, era su ubicación privilegiada. Está en una zona paradisíaca, conocida por sus playas vírgenes y aguas cristalinas.
Esto contrasta fuertemente con el estado actual de abandono del inmueble, haciéndolo también fascinante desde una perspectiva visual y simbólica.
It was very famous for providing the only saltwater pool on the island. As the workers say the atmosphere in the place used to be great and now it is a stagnant water disaster.
Fue muy famoso por aportar la única piscina de agua salda de toda la isla. Como dicen los trabajadores el ambiente en el lugar era estupendo y ahora un desastre de agua estancada.
The neglect is also due to the post-pandemic period, when many projects were paralyzed due to the fall of international tourism and the economic sanctions against Cuba.
However, if you can visit it, you will take some spectacular photos, besides being an attraction for urban explorers in search of hidden treasures.
El descuido también viene dado por la post-pandemia, donde muchos proyectos sufrieron parálisis, debido a la caída del turismo internacional y las sanciones económicas contra Cuba.
No quita, que si pueden visitarlo se llevarán unas fotos espectaculares, además de ser atracción para exploradores urbanos en busca de tesoros escondidos.
You can see that the reception sign and the first rooms, with their statues and vibrant colors, are still very well preserved.
Imagining these cabins, full of customers must be a dream. Exchanging languages, cultures and religion of various countries, I know it was enjoyed for a long time ago.
Se puede observar, que aún se conserva muy bien su cartel de recibimiento y primeras habitaciones, con sus estatuas y colores vibrantes.
Imaginarme estas cabañas, llenas de clientes debe ser un sueño. Intercambiando lenguas, culturas y religión de varios países, se que se disfrutó durante mucho tiempo atrás.
I didn't walk too far to the entrance, because as I mentioned at the beginning, I entered the place hidden from security.
It is also beautiful, the images express it. It becomes an attractive spot for those who practice “urbex” (urban exploration), or for photographers who love architecture in a state of disrepair.
No camine mucho hacia la entrada, pues como les mencioné al comienzo, entre al lugar escondido de la seguridad.
También es bello, las imágenes lo expresan. Se convierte en un punto atractivo para quienes practican el “urbex” (exploración urbana), o para fotógrafos amantes de la arquitectura en estado de deterioro.
Arriving at the final part of the adventure, and main part of the hotel, we found the lobby, waiting room or rest area. From the photos and what I could observe, it presents a wide hallway, gallery and model of the entire room in general.
The structure contains its colonial style, with classic furnishings, light gray marble floor and facade with orange and light peach tones.
Llegando a la parte final de la aventura, y principal del hotel, nos encontramos con el lobby, sala de espera o área de descanso. Por las fotos y lo que pude observar, presenta un amplio pasillo, galería y maqueta de todo la estancia en general.
La estructura contiene su estilo colonial, con mobiliarios clásicos, piso de mármol gris claro y fachada con tonos naranjas y melocotón claro.
The images I liked the most were these last two, I loved them 😍. They are a Colombian series style of pattern and freshness.
Las imágenes que más gustaron fueron estas dos últimas, las amé 😍. Son un estilo de series colombianas de patrón y frescura.
In conclusion, my experience inside the abandoned Hotel Muthu Colonial resort 4 stars 🌟 of the northern keys, is that despite being in total deterioration, it contains a rural and Spanish beauty well preserved.
Well for lovers of photography, exploration and urbex, it is super recommended. I only wish that someday, the facility will be available and functional again, for me it would be a great luxury to be able to visit it as a client in the future.

En conclusión, mi experiencia dentro del abandonado Hotel Muthu Colonial resort 4 estrellas 🌟 de los cayos nortes, es que a pesar de estar en total deterioro, contiene una belleza rural y española bien conservada.
Pues para los amantes de las fotografías, exploración y urbex, es súper recomendable. Solo deseo que algún día, esté disponible y funcional nuevamente la instalación, que para mi sería un gran lujo poder visitarlo de cliente en el futuro.
