Today I have the pleasure of inviting you to the opening of an exhibition of cultural goods created by members of the textile manifestation of the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists (ACAA) at the "Eduardo Martínez" gallery in the city of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. This event is part of the activities and celebrations for the day of love and friendship in February. I hope you like the works and enjoy each of these artistic designs.

Hoy tengo el placer de invitarlos a la inauguración de una exhibición de bienes culturales creados por integrantes de la manifestación textil de la Asociación Cubana de Artesanos Artistas (ACAA) en la galería "Eduardo Martínez" de la ciudad Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. Está acción se suma a las actividades y celebración por el día del amor y la amistad en febrero. Espero les gusten las obras y disfruten cada uno de esto diseños artísticos.

To begin my journey to the art exhibitions, I took several photos of my neighborhood and the streets on the way to the gallery, all on a normal day with people passing by on their way to work or doing chores at home.
On this occasion, artists from different creative levels come together: legendary craftspeople and aspiring artisans, celebrating Valentine's Day and sharing their works with the public. The exhibition features more than 15 designs and will remain on display until March, as part of the cultural activities in the province.
Para comenzar mi travesía hacia las exhibiciones de arte, pues realice varias tomas fotográficas de mi barrio y las calles para llegar a la galería, todas de un día normal por el paso de personas hacia los trabajos o labores en sus hogares.
En esta ocasión se juntan artistas exponentes de distintos niveles de creación: artífices legendarios, y aspirantes a artesanos, celebrando el Día de San Valentín, compartiendo sus obras con el público. Muestras que conforman más de 15 diseños y permanecerá expuesta hasta marzo, como parte de las actividades culturales de la provincia.
I always appreciate this short journey to the gallery, as you can find everything from vintage cars to very charming colonial buildings in my city. This first stop was the San Eugenio Church, a neoclassical yellow structure that received the national restoration award, being an essential attribute of Avilanian identity.
Continuing on, we arrive at the corner of the "Tía Fita" bar, well-known for its flavor and the exquisiteness in its preparation and personalized attention. Another gem is the Champagnat School, a building with a republican-style façade dating from 1951, a few years before the revolutionary triumph.
It is currently functioning as a school for children. It is quite deteriorated, but it is still operating.
Siempre aprecio este mínimo recorrido para llegar a la galería, pues encuentras desde autos antiguos hasta edificios coloniales muy confortables de mi ciudad. Esta primera ruta fue la iglesia de San Eugenio, una estructura de color amarilla neoclásica que ocupa premio nacional de restauración, siendo atributo esencial de identidad avileña.
Al continuar, llegamos a la esquina del bar "Tía Fita" muy conocido por su sabor y su exquisitez en la elaboración y atención al personal. Otra joya es el Colegio Champagnat, una estructura de fachada republicana que data de 1951 unos años antes del triunfo revolucionario.
Actualmente se está ejerciendo como escuela para niños. Pues esta muy deteriorada pero aún está funcionando.
Inside the school is the stadium called "Los Maristas," a veteran venue for national tournaments and baseball or soccer events all day long.
This space is an example of how a sports facility can transcend its original function to become a symbol of a city's collective memory, leaving a legacy that endures in the new facilities and in the stories of its former inhabitants.
Dentro de la escuela se ubica el estadio llamado "Los Maristas" veterano escenario para torneos nacionales y eventos de pelota o fútbol todo el día.
Este espacio es un ejemplo de cómo una instalación deportiva puede trascender en función original para convertirse en un símbolo de la memoria colectiva de una ciudad, dejando un legado que perdura en las nuevas instalaciones y en las historias de sus antiguos pobladores.
Arriving at the exhibition, I'll tell you that Ciego de Ávila features façades in warm tones. Not all of them are majestic; many bear the noble wear and tear of time. But the faces of the people, their way of greeting each other from one sidewalk to the other, give it a unique color and liveliness.
The movement of the city at this time of the afternoon is not noisy, but rather quiet—perfect for appreciating art.
Llegando a la exposición, les comentaré que Ciego de Ávila expresa fachadas de tonos cálidos, que no son todas majestuosas, muchas tienen el desgaste noble del tiempo, pero los rostros de la gente, su manera de saludarse de una acera a otra, le dan un color y vivir único.
El movimiento de la ciudad a estas horas de la tarde, no es el bullicio, más bien tranquilo, perfecto para apreciar el arte.
Just two blocks away, I'll mention that artisans from the various sections submitted samples of their work to the competition, thanks to the sense of belonging they feel towards these events.
As you approach the exhibition building, you recognize its elegant façade, with white columns and pink-toned walls. Several visitors come and go, camera in hand and ready to discover the loving, creative display.
A solo dos calles, les comentaré que los artesanos de las distintas secciones entregaron muestras de su labor al certamen, gracias al sentido de pertenencia que en ellos habita ante estos eventos.
Al acercarse al edificio de la exposición, se reconoce su fachada elegante, de columnas blancas y paredes en tonos rosados. Varios visitantes entran y salen, con cámara en mano y listos para descubrir la muestra amorosa creadora.
Renowned artisans preserve their styles and, in line with the availability of materials to create their works, have incorporated new ideas and techniques, resulting in attractive crafts.
In the case of newcomers, they demonstrate skill and versatility through the creation of handmade works based on unique applications of textiles, threads, and fabrics.
Los artesanos renombrados preservan sus estilos y, en correspondencia a la posibilidad de adquisición de materiales para la concreción de sus creaciones, han incorporando ideas y técnicas, obteniendo atractivas artesanías.
En el caso de los noveles demuestran dominio y versatilidad a través de la realización de labores artesanales basadas en singulares aplicaciones del textil, hilos y tejidos.
On the other hand, aspiring artists are showing notable changes in their proposals, especially exceptional pieces in which content and form are integrated.
Teamwork has reemerged, with projects such as "Guayza," "Manos mágicas," "Justo a la moda," "Bordando sueños," and "Textura al rojo" standing out. A collection of crafts focused on promoting the artisan and their work preserves regional traditions, which strengthens expressions that confirm our identity.
I really loved many of these styles, mostly crochet, especially those using the Amigurumi technique. They remind me of ideas from animated pieces in foami clay.
Por otra parte los aspirantes se muestran con notables cambios en sus propuestas, sobre todo, excepcionales facturas en las que el contenido y la forma se integran.
Reaparece el trabajo en equipo destacándose los proyectos: "Guayza", "Manos mágicas", "Justo a la moda", "Bordando sueños" y "Textura al rojo". Una colección de artesanías enfocada en la promoción del artesano y su obra preserva tradiciones de la región, lo cual fortalece manifestaciones que confirman nuestra identidad.
Muchos de estos estilos mayormente crochet me encantaron, principalmente los de la técnica Amigurumi, se me hacen ideas a los animados en foami clay.
The title "Creating for Love" is an exhibition put on by the Avilanian artisan guild, where the development of the craft brings it closer to its public and potential consumers.
The following pieces shift away from the common artistic approach of paintings; this time we are presented with the Perche technique, which involves creating landscapes with fabric scraps and stitching them together, seeking the folk charm of unique, handmade pieces.
El título "Creando para el amor" es una exposición garantizada por el gremio de la artesanía avileña donde el desarrollo de la misma se próxima a su público y posibles consumidores.
Los siguientes cuadros cambian el enfoque artístico común de las pinturas, esta vez estamos en presencia de las técnicas de Perche, que hacen referencia a idear paisajes con retazos de telas y cosiéndolos, buscan la gracia popular de piezas únicas hechas a mano.
To conclude, I really enjoyed getting to know and appreciate these kinds of styles, where the art of handweaving continues to evolve and adapt to current times. This retrospective of love is not just about a single date; it is the work of those passionate about art.
We hope this exhibition inspires more people to explore the world of weaving and to appreciate the beauty of these spectacular creations!

Para concluir, me encanto conocer y apreciar este tipo de estilos, donde el arte del tejido a mano sigue evolucionando y adaptándose a los tiempos actuales. Esta retrospectiva de amor, no es solo una fecha, es el trabajo de los apasionados por el arte.
