Religion refers to a person or peoples way of worship. This way of worship may entail so many things as we may have seen some various practices by different religious standards. However, to answer the question today; is religion needed for salvation? Let us look into the book of Malachi 3 verse 7
**● Malachi 3:7 (King James Version):**
"Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?"
So this verse clears up that all have sinned in one way or another and hence have deviated from Gods will but God gives a chance so we can return to him by way of following anda moderating our worship and lifestyle to suit what he has set for us.
Jesus Christ came and brought us a religion (a way of worship which pleases the father Jehovah God) and he also made it clear that no one comes to the father except through him. In essence, you cant come to the father or recieve salvation from the father without following the teachings and the ways of christ. Like a religion is identified, the religion that christ brought us comes with its own do and don't. For instance, Jesus instructed a rich young ruler who seeked to follow Jesus that he should sell off his possesions and give to the poor and he shall have treasures in heaven. So this can tell us that there is a religion which which christ brought and it also has its doctrines or way of worship.
Jesus brought a religion to us which is Christianity. If he did not see the need for religion as a means towards salvation then he wouldn't have taught the way and wills of his father. The religion which Christ brought is necessary for our salvation.
