Today, we can find some denomination of the body of Christ with some doctrines that don't correspond to the bible. This could arise from misinterpretation of the bible or other situations. One of these doctrines include refusal to baptize a person because the spouse is not baptized or maybe because the person is not engaged or married. So to clear this misconception, kne may want to understand the meaning of baptism first. Baptism is recommended to a believer once he understands the teachings of the lord Jesus. Baptism in clearer terms means dying and resurrecting with Christ. It is an important milestone in a believers life.
Apostle paul was advised to get baptised in the book of Acts 22 verse 16
**● Acts 22:16 (KJV):**
"And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord."
As we have read in the bible passage, baptism is a milestone in the life of a believer like apostle Paul. You have to take a bold step in your life tonget baptised and get cleansed spiritually. Apostle Paul got baptized even when he was not married so there is no reason to mandate that one most be engaged or married before baptism.
Marriage is an old institution in the world that is mandated by God however there is no connection in the bible between getting married and getting baptized. According tonthe bible, marriage is two coming together to form one and be there for each other while baptism symbolically refers to dying and resurrecting with christ, being cleansed spiritually and being/living for Christ and Christ be with you.
