When someone is addicted to something, then that person can't do without that thing daily or seasonally. For instance, substance abuse persons can't do without taking a substance in a day. This addiction of various kinds affects our society in one way or another. These addictions can also be described as the mere pleasing of the flesh.
**● Proverbs 23:31–34 (KJV):**
(31) Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. (32)At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. (33) Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. (34) Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast (35) They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
Proverbs 23 verse 31 to 34 describes the temptation of alcohol and the process of drunkeness and its repercussions. The verse 35 talks about wanting to get out of the alcohol but in seconds longing for it which is a clear indication of addiction to alcohol.
Let nothing be a god to you that you cannot do without it periodically in your life time else it is addiction. There is the spirit of addiction that never let you go of that bad habit or that bad intake that you passionately want to stop or end. However, with prayers and and hardwork, you can come to the end of that addiction. It is the hand of God that can turn away that spirit of addiction.
