Sometimes what seems like a crazy idea turns into something great and starts to make sense the more you think about it! The young oldies who've been here from the very beginning know the story of our birth, but the newbies have not heard. I will keep it short and sweet!
The story of the Silver Bloggers started with
Flowing River, a gal who thinks outside the box, and who made a tongue-in-cheek comment that I should think about starting a community of grey bloggers. Nah, sounds boring, I said, but how about turning the grey into Silver - I knew several silvery Hivers, so why not!
I knew zilch about starting a community and made a few virtual calls to a couple of wise Hivers, which led to the birth of our community 4 years ago on 17 April 2021.
I have to thank two people who steered me in the right direction when stumbling in the wilderness -
Sassy LUT, and
Sterling Silver.
The Team
We three gals have gone through deep waters the past few years, but our two Silver guys, each in their own field, were the glue that held our community together during this period. They also helped build a stronger and closer community.
They are - the dependable and steadfast guardian of the Silvers, our brilliant Mod
Silver Scot and our techno-wizard, graphic designer & advisor
Silver Dude. The gals are our super efficient admin
Silver Flower, the endearing and equally brilliant Mod
Silver Cat, and of course me - founder of the Silver Bloggers,
Silver-Blond Lizzie. Life as a Silver Blogger
If you think life slows down when those silver threads start multiplying, think again! You are in for the ride of your lives! Many of us still have day jobs.
If you're an 'aspirant' Silver Blogger, pop in from time to time, and you will soon see what I mean!
Fun Stuff
As said, we may be silver, but that doesn't stop us from having fun!
Silver Names is just one of them, and if you would like one and haven't chosen yours yet,
here's what to do.
We've had various contests and writing prompts over the years, which challenge us and also help with writer's block.
Silver Bloggers Author of the Week and Smorgasbord - a weekly curation post highlighting some of the awesome posts from our members, are two exciting initiatives still happening. Thank you, Silver Scot; you have been a busy bee!
Incubation and support
We would be remiss in not thanking the team at
@ocd for their awesome support of our community members over the years, and need to make special mention of
@ocd under whose leadership it operates. Those members who continuously produce good posts would not have developed at this rate without this encouragement!

The numbers
As I write, we now have 2543 subscribers. Similarly, delegations have increased to just over 11000 HP, making our vote count a little more!
As we always say, every little helps.
Memoir Monday
I'm mentioning this even though Memoir Monday was
Silver Scribe's project, as our members embraced it and shared precious memories within our community. We had an exciting collaboration offering big prizes sponsored by
@ericvancewalton and me.
Memoir Monday ran for all of 52 weeks, and even though that has passed, you can still go back, look at the topics, and store your memories for future generations.
Eric currently has a thought-provoking writing prompt -
Maybe In My Next Life? so hop over there; you may just be inspired to give your imagination free rein on the topic of #InMyNextLife.
Last words from our gents
Silver Scot says...
For me, it is a wonderful community, and so happy to help wherever I can and see our members flourish.
Quote by Silver Fish -
A huge THANK YOU to all and everyone who gives their free time to our community. Especially to the writers of the awesome blogs mentioned in
this menu. Without you all, it wouldn't be the same for sure. Thanks for being awesome, to every single one of you!
Everything you need to know about Silver Bloggers - and more!

And, thank you in advance
Your ‘tips’ and ‘delegations’ help the community to support ! Thank you !
The “true” way of a community is to support each other, also on Hive. Since it doesn't make sense to wait for the mercy of a millionaire to send us $$$ - we support each other with the best we can.
Tipping or delegating is a way to show that you appreciate the work
. It works even after a contribution has gone through the seven days of voting, and thus the opportunity for gracious "giving" is over. Another plus - that way no one can ‘steal’ your given support, not even the often ego-selfish pointless Down-Voters. We thank you for all the support you give, anywhere !
